I need to find out what model(year) banshee we have.

The engine number is 35G-00XXXX...

I didn`t put the last numbers just in case....

We can`t read the chassis number and will be fine to accept that the engine is original.

are you sure is 35G and not 3GG, cause my motor is a 3GG and i couldnt find a 35G...

if you can read the 10th digit on the vin that would tell the year...
or dont you have a chassis?

edit: those are RZ350 cases

if the remainder of the numbers is 000101 to 003100 they are from a 1983 model
but if they are 003101 or bigger it's 1984 model.

so is it a rz bottom end with banshee cylinders or a RZ motor?

What is an rz case???

The full engine number is 35G-003210.

So does that mean its 1984 and after??? I still don`t understand.

that means that you have got a set of 1984 rz350 cases.

the RZ 350 is the Powervalve version of the banshee motor found in the roadbikes.
it differs by the fact the Cylinders have Powervalves and the gearbox has a taller ratio.

if if you think you have a banshee motor because there no powervalves you have either got banshee barrels on an RZ transmission (which would give you a higher top speed) or its a banshee transmission in rz cases.

okay, it does about 130kays ... i thought it was crap gearing ....I was gonna go smaller on the pinion to get a little better pickup but first gear is pretty good for starting anyway.

The chassis has been painted ....thick....so we didn`t wanna take any paint off and make it look like crap....

We`re thinking about taking her to the beach races in Bowen this year so at least we have a good starting point. Absolutely lethal from three quarters to full throttle.

might be a rz tranny and normal barrel and head cause from the pics I`ve seen, ours has springs holding the exhaust on....not bolt on.

yea, you'll know if its an RZ topend because the head will have YPVS on the side in big letters and the water outlet will be on the top of the head instead of the front.

my banshee got about 130kph with stock gearing so id say its just the cases but im just guessing

It's actually the 8th in from right to left or 10th in from left to right.

17 digits in a VIN.
