Not that I want to push the political agenda on OZ atv but at least someone is thinking of the trail bike/quad riding voters in Queensland.
LNP puts $3 million on the table to deal with trail bike riding
6 January 2009
Lawrence Springborg MP
The LNP today announced a Springborg Government would work "hand in
hand" with local communities across Queensland to tackle trail bike
riding in populated and residential areas.
LNP Leader Lawrence Springborg said there was a real need for a better
lifestyle balance to be achieved in Queensland - with continuing urban
sprawl resulting in more residential communities sharing their
neighbourhoods with trail bike riding.
Mr Springborg said rather than pretend the issue didn't exist, the LNP
was prepared to discuss this issue with local communities to deliver
some commonsense and practical solutions and put $3 million on the table
to help purchase and/or support dedicated sites.
"The LNP recognises there are safety and noise concerns for many local
residents and the closure of dedicated trail bike riding facilities is
pushing it into areas that are more difficult to control," he said.
"Trail bike parks are closing under the burden of providing insurance
and in the past some have operated without insurance. This is neither a
safe nor reasonable outcome."
"It's time the community worked together to get the balance right," Mr
Springborg said.
The LNP Leader said a Springborg Government would work with local
Councils across Queensland to identify those sites most appropriate for
the establishment of dedicated Trail Bike Riding Parks and put $3
million on the table to help secure appropriate sites.
"The provision of dedicated areas for this form of recreation pursuit
has a benefit to both the riding as well as the broader community," Mr
Springborg said.
"Having a designated trail bike riding area is a more sustainable and
safer option that will mean local communities can better control the
impacts, while preserving and protecting other areas." _________________ 2012 Polaris RZR XP Turbo

too bad this sort of thing didnt happen in nsw the motorplex supposedly being built in the terrace got arsed which would of bought money to our area as there would of been tracks for quads bikes and even large enough tarcks for a moto gp event here and a v8 super car race too but the government is always out to take all the fast fun things off us things like this are y ppl are taking riding and speeding to the streets becoz we havnt got any controlled areas to do these dangerous things
how could a good idea like this in most states (especially nsw) be a bad idea as it would bring tourists, spectators and riders alike to the areas not to mention alot of money if larger events were held there.
sorry blabbing "profanity removed"

I would love some where to take our kids to learn to ride safe.
If the government would get aplace to go and do all kinds of riding it would be better for all concered.
We can only hope this happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ LIFE SHORT PLAY HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure if the relevant state authorities had any idea how many quads are out there & they did the sums, multiplying those numbers by a rec reg fee & transfer fees, plate charges & stamp duty, thier eyes would light up, not that I think they're at all interested in revenue raising NOT
I wonder if the head offices of the big four would divulge the numbers?
Could be worth investigating the sales numbers nationwide.

Well said Dazz. Finally a political party with an agenda that supports our cause. How long did it take them to build skate parks for kids to ride safely so they wouldn't be on the streets???? And at what cost to the council/state gov. ?? I'd reckon each park would have to be $100k +. Opening up existing state forest fire trails ,national parks and crown land would cost bugger all. In fact it would free up the police to do real police work instead of hassaling riders. It would create employment by having maitainence people needed for upkeep of trails and allowing state forestry/national parks people to get on with there jobs.A better system with rec. rego. could take care of the insurance side of things .This could help the ride parks insurance dilemas. A lot of people ride or have kids that ride and these people "VOTE" .Support the party/people who are going or willing to support us!!!! Thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |
