yeah one of these, it gave the insured FULL tac cover, but if your quad had rego, there is nothing stopping a person getting fire theft, full third party cover, the lot, Dennis has his fully insured, and when he had his big offie at Yarram that time, his insurance company paid for the lot, all was close to 4500 to fix the grizzly. And TAC paid for the helicopter ride, they checked out his claim fully, not a drama.

Hi guys,
Just got back from our holidays up at our van in Mansfield. Didnt get to do much riding due to the heat and dust (4 days in a row over 40 deg.) Anyway, I found out some info in regards to TAC cover, dont know if this may help us BUT. did you know that if you were to have an accident out on the trails and you needed medical attention, all you have to do is call 000 and the cops will turn up and book you. BUT you are then fully covered by TAC. So why cant they cover us with rec rego ??? It just dosnt make sense to me. I found out from a guy who flipped his mates quad not far from the van park where we are, broke his leg in two places, Mrs Rosco rang the Ambo they rang the cops. They told the guy IF they charge him with driving/riding an unregistered vehicle he is covered for ALL medical fees. This included Ambo ride to Mansfield hospital then air ambo to Maroonda Base hospital, Three operations, two weeks in hospital and 12 months of rehab. Its just got me stumped. _________________ Mine:- 2008 700 Raptor

Okay, while I know that rec reg is still not upon us, if we are not carefull we'll end like NSW and get one spot and thats gunna be it.
I am a member of the VTRN (victorian trail riders network) this a organisation that is trying get numbers so they can go to the DSE and the State and Fedral Govt to try and stop track/trail closures across Vic. Now its simple and cheap to join, fill out and online form and pay NOTHING, thats right nothing and your done, Bruce will send you out a newletter once a month, the closures planned for the Otways are comming, Gippsland has already been listed (see below) there's no need to read them if you dont want to but just see how big the list is...

Hey Yogie,
I just looked at the pics on the DBW thread!!!
OMG!!!!! WTF!!!!!!
I live in East Gippsland and the last thing I want to see is signs like that IF i ever decide to "Break the Law" and go for a trail ride or go 4WD with some mates!!
I dont see what the huff is about!! Would I be fined for riding an "unregistered vehicle" or would there be a more serious fine involved if i was to venture out on to "public land" and get cought?
I would love to head out for a trail ride, but the only place I can Legally do it is 3.5 hour away, up at a place called Suggan Buggan near the NSW border. Like I have stated before, Any and every one is welcome to camp/ride at our place!! only 42 acres (great for some flat out fun and the kiddies) but pleanty of State forrest and the end of the road!! All you have to do is cross the Princes hwy.
Cheer

That's disturbing info. Did my bit & registered in the survey thingey.
I might even ring the DSE number & get details for public comment, the more that do the better. We all need to send a message - 2 whls or 4, doesn't matter.
What's the use of fighting for rec reg if it becomes worthless when they close all the riding areas.

MEDIA RELEASE
Victorian Trail Riders Fight to Keep the Bush Open
Trail Riders from across Victoria are banding together to fight proposed government bush road and track closures in favourite riding areas to all forest users.
New plans released by the Department of Sustainability and Environment to permanently close popular riding areas in the Otway Forest Parks and Enfield State Forest have angered riders.
Victorian Trail Riders Network Coordinator, Bruce Dupe said riders were disappointed that the government was not willing to work toward partnerships and cooperative arrangements with responsible riders, rider organisations and other forest user groups
“Just when we were seeing results DSE changed the plans we had been jointly working on and announce they intend to close down whole areas!”
“We had worked really hard to come up with sustainable solutions to keep the bush open but after everything we have done we wonder why we bothered.” he said.
“It’s not just motorcycle riders this will effect, it’s four wheel drives, horse riders and even bicycle riders!”
The Victorian government has commenced a six week consultation process but trail riders have little faith in the process after a spate of track closures in the area in recent years and a fear of more to come.
“DSE and Parks Victoria have strung up dangerous steel cable and concrete barriers along roads and tracks to keep people out of the bush and now they are going to do more and more.” says Bruce Dupe.
“The riding loops the bureaucrats have suggested are almost all gravel roads with considerable use by local residents and tourists.”
“It gets scary when you come around a corner with heavy steel cables on each side and see a Landcruiser heading for you on your side of the road! That’s not the riding experience I’m looking for, it’s just plain dangerous!”
The Victorian Trail Riders Network is calling on all riders across Victoria and another concerned forest users to join the network and help stop the current proposed track closures from going ahead. VTRN is working with other user groups to challenge the track closures on legal grounds and is lobbying government ministers and MP’s in an effort to halt the process before it is too late.
