Anyone into trail riding around Newcastle Hunter area?.
If so where do you ride without running into the boys in Blue?
There is only so many times you can ride the same tracks so Im looking for new places to ride and new people to ride with so if anyone is interested just let me know when and where.

Ok after much searching the internet I have found a place were we can do some trail riding legaly not to far from Newcastle.

Stapleton Mirannie Mountain Wilderness Park
859 Glendonbrook Rd, Glendonbrook, NSW 2330
Phone: (02) 6577 6197

I gave the guy a call today and said anyone is welcome to ride there for a small fee $20per day for as many quads as you can fit on your viehcle or $30 for a weekend there is Basic camping facilitys. You just have to let him know by phone the day before you plan to arrive. It is not very well signed or advertised so you best to get directions from the owner. I plan on checking it out next weekend if anyone is interested in coming feel free. Very Happy

i just rung loyd the owner of the 1000 acre property. i was on the phone to him for over 30mins talking about things camping sites, tracks etc.
then he warned me about sightings of a yowie (aka bigfoot) on the property. this thing jumped his 8 foot gate that was only 300meters fvrom his house. hw has 4 alaskan malumutes thats 200kgs of dog and they are no small dog either. it hasnt killed anyone. but it is a warning dont go up there alone or when its wet. they dont like light or noise.
im still keen to go up there and check the place out but im nervous to stay the night let alone the wekend i might sleep in the car. i intend to take the lemon gun and lots of bungers for protection.

im plannig opn going up on the wekend of 15th november if any is still keen. aparently alot of ppl still go up there both in big 4wds and bikes and still are not fussed about this sighting.

I have been going to this property for 3 years now with my 4wd club. We went up on the weekend of 31st, 1st & 2nd of nov for 3 days camping and a couple of us outta the club took our bikes up for a ride. In all there were 10 bikes. Loyd is a fair man to where you can ride and where your not allowed. Fees are fair too. Went for a ride on my bike this weekend just gone up to the look out. Good ride up there but like the other boys said a bit rocky thou. Still had a ball as always up there on loyds property. If you are going in a standard car watch the creek crossing as it can get deep. It covered the wheels on my trailer on the weekend. But there is a longer way around. Will be back up there again in a few months, and will take the bike back up for another run.

No sign of the YOWIE! in 3 days of camping!

To those that go up enjoy the good ride!

Had a good day yesterday. We had 3 quads, Raptor 700R, my YFZ450 and a Polaris Agbike with an electric winch.

We got there at about 8:30am, having left Kellyville (Sydney) at around 5:45am, and went directly towards Singleton via Putty Rd. We had the best run ever, not a single car in front of us, not a copper in sight, its like we owned that road. The stupid in car GPS kept complaining that we should be going the F1 motorway, but we knew better.

Finding the place on Glendonbrook Rd was very easy, the gate is about 250m past the Glendonbrook Hall on the left. Once you drive in its basically a dirt road through another 2 gates and you arrive at the edge of the property. To get onto the property you have to cross a creek, which you can not do without a 4WD. We simply left the 2WD ute behind, after we offloaded the quads and our gear, and just took the 4WD ute across with the quads riding in front.

First thing I ride over was a cow crap and fling "profanity removed" all over me and my bike, mad start to the day. Very Happy

There were two families there with kids on the camping grounds, which is right next to some nice flats track where you can do some sideways action. Just gotta be careful cause of kids riding there and all the dust can be pushed by the wind on all the campers Very Happy

Awesome place with heaps of tracks to ride on, basically every surface you can think of, from simple grassy paddocks to bloody steep rock crawls.
One of the tracks is almost friggin vertical, if your engine stops, you might as well bail and let the quad cartwheel down.
It also very easy to get lost so either bring a GPS that records your path or wait for Lloyd (the owner) to bring you a map. A lot of the tracks intersect each other so you can ways ride on the same tracks but not the same way, so the combinations are huge, you wont be bored in any way. Just be careful on some of the "straights" because there are lots of surprises, I suggest doing a "non crazy" run to get to know the place and then got full stick once you know what to look out for. One scary moment was when I went full stick not thinking and did a sharp turn, when I looked over the edge, I nearly "profanity removed" myself because it was a vertical drop down about 50 meters.

I had a few battle scars, and nearly came off the bike. I hit a massive rock and it simply ripped off my swing arm bash plate like it was just glued on, had to ride half a day with my chain, sprocket and disk brake exposed, so was a little more careful than before but that didnt dampen the fun in any way. It's also more apparent that my bike needs a hell of a good tune, by the end of the day it was struggling and coughing like an old man thats been smoking for 50 years.

Views are spectacular from the top of the hill, it was a bit overcast so I think we were limited to about 80kms, but it was the best place to have lunch. Best of all, we had no rain Smile

We are definitely going again.

Jerry

My Partner and I, went up to Marrianne Mountain yesterday. Friends of ours are camping there for the week . Going back up there for another ride and camp over New Years Eve and day! Very dry up there at tne moment. But awesome fun to ride. great for the kids as well to learn.

Went for a ride with about 10 other bikes. All mixed from Impotered ones to top of the range bikes. All bikes went well. Went up to the look out and the track was pretty steep and insane but awesome ride again.
