 |
|
I believe the time has come for all Victorian Trail Riders to group together and present a united front, and be taken seriously as a movement.
Like many other social groups that use bush-land areas and forest roads, we should put ourselves forward and present a serious and organised group of people prepared to do the right thing. But most importantly, take action. Then – we may have more of a chance achieving any future objectives for the benefit of quad trail riding state wide
The QRCV has done a fantastic job of organising and promoting the racing of Quad riding.
Now it’s up to “you” the trail rider to help us do the same for social riding. We need your involvement and participation to achieve any kind of result.
A few of us cannot represent all of you.
Just think how other organisations keep having access to forest areas and the positive tread lightly image they promote – for example 4x4 Clubs and two wheelers holding events in State Forests.
And what happens in other States with Quads!
This might still be a way off for Quads in Vic – but why wait – lets start now! And stop taking "no" - "maybe" - "Waiting on..." for an answer
I propose a meeting to be organised for early in the New Year to get together and have a group discussion
This meeting could involve –
Organising and making everyone aware of future trail rides
Planning a new attack on getting Rec Rego
Discussing strategies for finding new legal areas for riding
But most important – let’s get together and hear everyone’s opinion
If you agree and wish to participate, please contact myself
If a good response is received, I will propose a suitable date for a QRCV sanctioned meeting at the Motor Cycling Vic office in Clifton Hill.
A few of you might know who I am - but for those who don't - I have just been elected to the General Commitee of the QRCV. My aim and purpose of joining the commitee is to promote and organise social/trail riding events and trying again next year to get Rec Rego.
Some people will know that most other members of the QRCV are involved in racing only. And fair enough as this is a hard enough task to organise and keeps them very busy.
But this is not my agenda. "Trail riding is"....
Any comments and questions are welcome.... |

Just to add..........
And this is not aimed at any one person
I value everyones opinon...
I know there is a certain level of negativity towards the QRCV from some people regarding past events - Fair enough
But the club is now committed towards deleveloping social and trail riding
It's about getting together as a group for the same causes and using the resources of the QRCV to assist us all.
For example
200 members of the QRCV have....
Or 200 odd people from around vic have...
I just think the top one sounds better - an organisation taking action
Instead of individuals having ago - what if 200+ people took the same action at the same time towards the same objective
It would be news worthy - especially if we were being rejected
No use waiting for Vicroads to change their mind - not likely to happen..
Pressure is needed....
I just want "you" to help us and everyone else that joins in, try and aceive the same objective
And I am well aware that much has been said about all these topics before and there has been many people trying- past and present to get Rec Rego.
But in this world of me...me... me - what do I get out of it...
Think about a cause for everyone
I just want it to work so we can "all" say at the very least - we had a great big go it together.....
Anyway I can get a bit serious at times
But I hope you get what I am trying to say

Well being new to the club, response to all this will give me an idea of the amount off trail riders there are, but being honest I have no idea how many trail riders there are in the club right now.
But is this what your getting at ???
Like everyone else I would love to ride in state forest legally.
But until then - as you already know no use discussing in the open about other types of riding that we all do. _________________ 04 YFZ450 -

Thanks...
But if you were to join in regardless.....
Your input might help others
Fair enough about the club - I am starting to hear your thoughts which is good. Helps me understand what I can do to make things better.
I have never raced and currently trail ride with my 3 mates. Like most other people do..
But I am having a stab at the big picture
If we can make many more areas accessable to us all, life could be better.....

There is plenty of people in club into trail riding but we need to do as you say and get organised, I see the BIG PICTURE and will do my best to help our cause.

Had planned for it to be at Clifton Hill at MV site where club meetings are held. Thought this might be central for everyone. But if this doesn't suit everyone I am happy to take suggestions. _________________ 04 YFZ450 -

I think a a more nuetral meeting point might be more appropriate, but will be happy to attend regardless.
Yogie, you should change the poll to how many recriders used to be members, that would make for interesting reading.

The other option I have is Knoxfield, so we can decide early next year when meeting date is set.
Just to let you know we are formulating ideas for riding access to State forrest right now.
Once we have a few firm ideas that might work everyone will be advised. And thats what this meeting will be about.
We are also looking at more riding areas on different areas of private land. Will be visiting some soon, to check suitability. _________________ 04 YFZ450 -

as this thread grows with more interest there could be the need to gather some infomation, So if any vic trail riders out WANTS TO... could you please forward SSYFZ450 your age, postcode or your nearest postoffice postcode. Now if you do not want to this that is fine, there will be no need to worry about disclosing anyother infomation because your address IS NOT required.
All we are trying work out is the demographics of trail quad riders.

Great Idea Yogie, perhaps also how many quads per family, as many have kids / others who don't frequent the forum, in the end it's all about numbers.

With over a 1000 veiws of this thread and discussion - there must be alot of people that can help
So please help us with this, even if you don't want to attend the meeting or be involved in person
The more numbers the better
Nothing will be passed on that can disclose any info to other parties
Only I will know who sent - promise...
Its about numbers........
We are getting closer... and I will arrange the meeting date very soon
Thanks everyone _________________ 04 YFZ450 -
