send the pics to me mate at mark.tomarchio@maunsell.com ill host em in the morning when i get to work.

will need to see a pic of the tops and sides of the pistons, also the bore.

so you richened it up (moved the clip down one notch, effectively raising the needle) and it still nipped up?

has the person boring the barrel been giving it enough bore clearance? they need 3 to 4 thou being a forged piston? how long into a ride did it nip up? could it have been a cold seizure? eg didnt warm it enough b4 flogging it.

its most likely an air leak though, most probably through the intake gaskets since you replaced the reeds etc. did you use new ones and 3 bond or somethign similar? what about the base gasket? did you use a new one and some 3 bond? b4 it goes back together again check the base gasket surfaces on the cases and the barrel and make sure they are flat. ditto for the reed gasket surfaces.

could also be a crank seal if they havent been replaced for a while.

hmmm emery paper wont make em flat you need to get an engineering shop to check them, who ever is boring it should be able to do it.

also i know the bore will be scored but where it is scored will tell you the story of how and why it seized.

if it was the airbox lid, he just needs to jet it richer

TRAV, do a plug chop when you get it back together if you dont find out why before hand

Does sound a lot like an air leak, if its leaking on the stator side of the crank it won't show up until its running hard. It would be worth leak testing the engine once you put it back together.

You could go up to 330 on the main pretty comfortably, how have you blocked off the oil mix input into the carb?

spray aero start around the running motor see if the motor picksup revs ,

throught gaskets, seals etc .

not into the motor ,carbie.

then you will know its sucking air leak ,leaning out .

wrong ring gap eh.

dunno about this bs about the power pipe etc, but it should have 12-15 thou ring end gap, and about 4 thou bore clearance.

it is quite possible that the builder has never done forged pistons b4 and didnt set it up with enough bore clearance.

he is saying the piston is melted, not seized. but i dunno, what happened to the pic's of the piston.

is there a hole in the top or wass it stuck to the bore.
maybe who ever put it together didnt check the ring gap in the first place
