Bullet is over with Adam at Quad Squad (Can-am X-Team Australia's development mechanic) as we speak, setting one of his 450X's up for the summer speedway season.
Lot's of little goodies thanks to Can-am Racing in Canada (one of the advantages of being on the factory team), plus a stack of tricks and suspension mods from Quad Squad has meant that this machine, though still below 450cc, has the same power almost exactly as his big bore Honda 467 that he was clean sweaping on towards the end of the SA speedway season last year. It's going to be an interesting Summer!

At best, the Can-Am will take a lot of tweaking yet, and probably a few races to get it ripping.
The old Honda is going to be hard to beat.

Can't wait to see it all Z'd up.

I reckon I got most of my tweaking done after the first practice heat.
The Can-Am settled in very quickly and I spent a few moments in the following heats 'pushing' Dr Z around the track eek

Hey it's only last practice and I can see we will all find more speed.
Just depends who finds the most.

I guess we'll get our first race pace taste this weekend (11 Oct).

First race night out at the sideways circle stuff for the new QuadSquad set up DS450X and...
Man, this thing flies.
MrsB rode womens and I rode A Grade (which was scary as sin eek )
We won 13 out of 16 races between us and came second in the other 3.

Race reports and pics later.

what is the lenght of the track? the track on the gold coast is 320m and i could get the banshee around the track fastest at standard hight, would ride off the turns on 2 wheels sometimes but had much better traction and drive out of the turn

I think Gillman is just over 300m on the pole line.
It's a dolomite surface with good cambers but fairly flat.

I know what you mean about your riding style, as I used to more sort of ride than slide too.
It sort of got me so far, but to get faster I had to start getting a lot more sideways.

Quads in SA are nearly up with sidercar times now.
Mel Brandle and a lot of other blokes have put a heap of time into the sport and there are heaps of people on and off the track who know how to read tracks these days.
Blokes like Ex World Junior Solo Champion Steve Baker get really involved with our nights too.
It's cool when you've got blokes like that sorting riders into heats, making sure we've got the right helmet colours etc.

There are a few classes now, so we'll have to have you down some time Smile

i was usually about 2sec a race slower than the sidecars. its definatly alot harder to ride up high but if you get the transition into a slide right to comes out so much better of the turn, on a good race the throttle would be on %100 the whole race, i would actually be leaning the wrong way out of the turn to move the weight to the outside tyre. i would regualy beat all the riders with lowered bikes. i saying that there are some bikes which benifit greatly from being lowered

another tip, set the offset of the inside rear tyre as far in as possible. you will get better traction and drive out of the turn
