Going to put a kill switch on a mates raptor.
I have a guide, but I want to make sure it doesn't go pear shaped.
Has anyone done this & if you have, can you give me a run down & possibly a couple of pictures. _________________ If it's not upside down, you're not trying hard enough!

the best thing to do with Yamahas is bridge the pulse coil wires.
out of the stator cover there will be 4 or 5 wires which will split into 2 connectors, the smaller of the 2 connectors will probably have a red and a white wire and is the pulse coil connector. while in the other connector the wires will probably be the same colour. _________________

So I am putting one side of the kill switch to the red & 1 side to the white wire?
The other way I have found on the raptor forums is to use the kill switch to ground the orange wire that runs to the coil.
Is this an easier way? _________________ If it's not upside down, you're not trying hard enough!

if you ground out the wire at the coil on a raptor 700 you will fry the coil if the kill switch is pulled and the ignition switch left on. it wont go instantly but after 1/2 an hour it would burn out the coil

Thanks for the heads up. I had heard that there was something to watch out for on the raptor. I will go with the first suggestion. _________________ If it's not upside down, you're not trying hard enough!

I've always done it by the pulse wires method as it doesn't involve shorting to earth... also because it works with the older style Vortex X10 ingitions that didn't have kill switch provisions _________________

It all can be done by using a relay , the same as i done on my Grizzly , , if not done properly you will short out the coil , and eventually leading to failure ,, _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

I have just finished it & used the 2 wires coming from the stator.
Works a treat. _________________ If it's not upside down, you're not trying hard enough!
