Thats correct guys its to wash out the big chunks of mud off my bikes for when i put them in there after a ride day they are cloged with mud and on the trip home lots of mud drops off so that way i can wash the trailer out as well.

Okay I got motivated and moved the draw bar under the chassis, and was time to see if this was going to work or not. Well it did, I still want to run a 3phase welder over it just make sure I've got more than enough penatration, I know I do... but you never know. Any way I rolled the bike inside and one on the front, not looking good for the polaris to sit on the front of it. Evil or Very Mad My bike has plenty of clearance on the front... Evil or Very Mad I feel I want to lift the box up an inch or so ??? wont be hard, just a pain, what do we all think ??? But let the pics do the talking I suppose.

Now with the green one on the front...

Here is my trailer to hold my quad and the kids bikes.

Started life as an old caravan chassis that we picked up for $100. Added a few bits and pieces over the years...and recently I extended it on both ends to carry all the bikes. It could carry one more across the back if I had to. I have since added a toolbox at the front of the trailer.

With all 5 bikes on the back it tows really well...you would hardly know its there

Yogie ...with the quads on/in the trailer...what is your ball weight like? I would imagine it would be quite heavy?

Cheers

cruddy pics but this is my standard'ish 6x4

my LTR450 was 10mm too wide to fit inside the box so i had to make a false floor. Used 25mm SHS along the inside then reo'd HMR particle board with an oil based sealer then colour ontop. Got wood off a mate for free so if it shits itself in winter ill just grab a sheet of marine ply. Ramps fit on a bit of angle thats fixed to the timber for extra strength. False floor is handy

simple, but does the job

Now i need to put some spacers between the leafs / axle to bring the height upto the same as my jeep. Jeep is running 33x12.5's, trailer is running 31x10.5's with (sausage) all clearance - scrubs with a full load of sand

My towbar is rated at 3000kg so roughly give or take, its about 10% of that, but once I put over a weigh bridge I can get a true figure but its going to be under. Very Happy

okay an update, on the ambo/trailer. Got all the brakes and and widow fixed Very Happy took it up to Colac to get it rego'd (weighs in at 1400, empty Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ) but on the way there the bloody stupid, dumb ass, moron who bolted the axle in (me) didnt do the bolts up tight enough and when I was backing the trailer, I didnt put the brake lever on the hitch and resultant in the axel moving and breaking the bolt through the spring pads, but I missed the rego apointment, fixed the trailer, so now its booked in again for next week Rolls eyes But I will post up pictures of the finished product, and the ball weight fully loaded is about 100ks acording to sums I did. So add another 20kg just to be safe. So the cold place where we go I'll be set, B uzz your helmets inthe mail. Barbara dont need it anymore Laughing

Hey Mark
with the polaris in the back and the kfx on the front i think the draw bar will be well over 100 kgs of down would pressure on the ball.
looking at the pics the rear wheels of the polaris are over the axle of the trailer, this puts 3/4 of the weight of the polaris on the front of the trailer.
you then add the steel used to make the draw bar that long, and also the weight of the KFX and i would be guessing up around the 350 - 400 kgs
on the ball.
unless of course the back of the van has a large water tank or something to help balance the load.
