I'll be away for work for over 6mths. Should I get my wife to start my bike every week to give the engine a run or drain all the oil and fuel and let it sit. If so is there anything else I should be doin?

If your @nal like me:
* Clean quad
* Change oil & filter
* Clean & oil air filter
* Remove battery and place on a battery tender/maintainer. I use an Optimate III battery tender which can stay connected to the battery indefinitely. Keeps the battery charged/maintained and will not let it sulphate.
* A few drops of oil down the spark plug hole
* If you have stands place quad on them. If not inflate tyres to ~8psi
* Spray WD40 on everything metal (except disks obviously)
Fuel tank:
I like to fill the tank full with premium and a fuel stabiliser. Turn fuel off and either drain carb or run bike dry. Some people like to drain the tank. Your call. |
