|
Hi all, Wont go into intros here already left one in the introduction section
Have got 2 x 1984 250r air cooled honda trikes.
I just recently purchased the second one but it seems to be sluggish on 1st and second gear, but when i hit 3rd it really opens up. Has anyone got any idea what this could be.
Regards

was told today over the phone, to see if it had low compression, and it seems very easy to kick over,, How can i tell the size of the piston rings i need. Could this cause it to be slugish down low.
Here is a pic of the trike in question, The newest edition i just bought, have re sprayed after market plastic tank and made up some honda stickers for it.
This is my other trike which has been out of service for 5 years.
Cheers

| Yeh low compression will do this for sure pull the head and barrel off and read the top of the piston.it will have a number stamped in the top eg 70.5mm im pretty sure you can only take the aircoolers out to 72mm i think thats the max over size of the piston manufactures although the sleeve in these engines can go far beyond that |

have got the cylinder rebored and honed to 71.5mm now, has heaps of compression which is good, fires up on first kick, also added boysen reeds. but still seems very slugish on 1st and second gear. Should i try a carby rebuild. any other suggestions

took the trike for a run today, as i was riding it i was pulling up and adjusting the air mixture on the carby. seem to get it running a bit better in 1st and second but still a little slugish. i turned it off and had a drink then jumped back on to go for another run and it died. couldnt start it again. Has fuel and spark.. Does anyone know what this would be.
