 |
|
Hello Guys and Gals
Im not sure if anyone is interested , but after a long time searching for a simple but effective solution for a safe and practical way of carrying extra fuel on an atv i was to come across a product about 6 months ago made by a company called Kolpin.
I went about enquiring about bringing these units into Australia only to be dissapointed in costs of freight and also the shear lack of interest from Us stockist, hence once contact was made with Kolpin and further correspondence , they appointed and Ozzy distributor.
I was to receive the most helpfull person in regards to this product.
Anyway if anyone would like to know more about this product please feel free to contact me and i will do all i can to assist, and if you would like to purchase this product please contact Brian at Towers motorcylces in QLD
Or this link http://www.towersmotorcycles.com.au/cms/display/general/index.php
I have also taken pics of the steps and method i used to mount the pack for quick release and ease of use , so bear with me im no instruction manual writer
1 I was to aquire a pice oof 2mm aluminum sheet to mount on the front rack , this was decided due to weight factor , as i use a cargo bag for long overnight trips, this sheet was trimmed and cut to size using a tungsten tip blade which fits to a standard 5'' grinder.
I was to also able to adapt this sheet so as to double as being a sort of a guard for my UHF radio.
I was to mount this to the rack on the bike using existing holes , but i was to remove the self tapping screws and tapped a 5mm thread in them so as not to have to worry about holding nuts ,lol and was to mount it by using 5mm by 12 mm stainless bolts.
I was to then mount the Brackets for the fuel pack to the alluminium sheet by also using 5mm stainless button head bolts.
I was to then also use 3 mm stainless steel sheet for the rear of the bike, which i decided to mount the seperate water and fuel pack, again i used existin holes and was to drill and tap the holes , using 5 mm by 12 mm stainless button head bolts.
I was to also use a Hydraulic hose or pipe clamp which was to suit 13mm diameter tubing, this was used so as to be of greater support to the bracket
The Kolpin range can also be veiwed at the following link if you would like to see the product
http://www.kolpinpowersports.com/products/water-and-fuel-packs.html
I hope this is is helpful to some people so please feel free to contact me if you need to know anything _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

the small packs hold about 1.5 gallons bit over 6 litres , this system was used purely due to its neatness and compact profile off mounting ,, with some manfacturing of brackets.
The twistlock mount is purchased as a accessory but all aluminium and steel brackets were made by me _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

Hi Buzz
With the temp that it gets down to here overnight i normally have a good bottle of Tawny port , keeps ya warm , and the white container is the water one, which you need plenty of after drinking the port _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

good job grizzly .i looked at these about 12mths ago but couldnt find a distributor. they are a great idea and youve done a very neat job of it.
i need to carry a bit more fuel than that on our next trip but for overnighters perfect.
great pics too. _________________ 2008 yamaha grizzly 700EPS /EFI

Good work again Grizz, I gotta say though you must be pretty tall to see over the top of that swap and flat tank combo.
How do you find vision? Have you considered "flatpacking" the swag or looked into it? _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

The swag wasnt even tied down, so when that is done it sits a lot lower , , but as a rule i have no problem seeing over the top. _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

Obvisouly you've never sat on a grizz, feels like your head is in the clouds and those bars feel like the old ape hangers. No I have to agree with Grizz, would nt a real issue. _________________ 2005 KFX700

Well I have sat on a Grizz before, I was just concerned that OK you might see an obstacle coming but you may not see its true potentil til it dissappears behind the swag if it stood proud of the front rack, thats all.
But as Grizz says he has it covered. _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

Thorough effort there Grizzly.
I'm looking to fit spotlights to my Griz. Just need to check the charging specs of the alternator to be assured it will keep up with size spots I decide to fit.
I still carry a jerry can strapped down. your system looks great as well as freeing up the real estate on the carry racks. _________________ The sun on my face, the wind in my hair & the freedom in my heart. |

You said you made the alloy mount tray for the front fuel cell, did you think about boxing it up and plumbing it directly to the existing fuel line?
Think I saw photos of something similar in the Safari Race section only on the back of his quad, I think over the front would balance the quad a little better.
Would look great powder coated or adonised the colour of your quad. |
