hey there, im trying to find out whats a good gear ratio for a yamaha warrior to climb sand hills i've got a 14 front 38 rear at the moment and i really have to get a run off to get up some hills and also for a yamaha blaster thats has a 13 front 40 rear, for the blaster its ok it makes it up pages hill and most of the hills there except for the other hills next to pages. if anybody knows whats the best ratio for the sand please let me know...thanks

I think we all need a run up.Increase the power output. If it over revs, increase the gearing(taller/more on the front). ........or fit paddles.Bigger rear tyres are like upping the gearing.

GOOD QUESTION
if you can clime a hill in 3rd with your paddles is good
4th you will climb quicker
5 th faster again
problem if you gear you bike to climb pages in fifth your top speed is (for general riding) is going to be ordinary but you would be quick of the line
the gearing you have is good all round
but if you want to shoot the hills you will need 3rd 4th or even 5th
to do this you will need aa smaller front sproket a a very large rear sproket.
and more hp then you currently have...............but it can be done
jmc on here made pages hill on a 110 trike back in the 80,s when it was twice as steep....mind you it was not standard ///

with the blaster it makes it up pages in 3rd everytime im there, even if its chewed to the "profanity removed" house i still make it up there ever since i got the paddles on it about a month ago i've made it up pages about 50 times everytime. on the warrior my dad is gonna try the 13tooth front sprocket on it maybe saturday if we're going up...cheers
