I've been riding the big Can-Am's for a while now.
I chop and change back to my DS450X which probably gets most of the riding.
I landed a 7th place at this years Finke on a stock Renegade 800X.
I would NOT put myself up there with Australias fastest riders and credit the bike for most of that.

The Renegade 800's are awsome machines, which ever way you look at it.
Having said that they are very different to ride.
They are very heavy compared to most sport quads and you will need to take a precautionary attitude when hard braking even if you are trying to squeeze the most out of it.
They pull like a V8 truck out of anything and go absolutely anywhere.
The power is much more of a 'grunt' than a hard hitting 'zap' and due to the CVT it's always there whenever you touch the throttle.
I'd say they are easy to ride, but the extra weight does require the rider to initiate actions early and you'll need to get very physical if pushing it to it's limits.
To me, that's the fun bit.
I've described a hard race on the Rene, like winning a fight with a grizly bear.
Having said that if you just cruise around, and want to go everywhere easily, they can be very smooth and comfortable.

Being a big fella you'll be right for size on a Renegade.
A 5 foot 50kg rider wouldn'y get much out of it.

Mate, you'll have to go to a dealer and get on one.
But give it a good go because they are different.
Your dealer should have access to some Renegade action DVD footage too.

Difference between Renegade X and Raptor 700 . I am a big guy too 6'5 and 120kg ( on a good day) .

I loved the Raptor 700 for speed and agility , but found it to be very tippy when doing anything other than flat stuff. ( I had barker duals and fuel controller) It pulled like a 12 yr old school boy , and never missed a beat. Ergonomics were way better than the 660 but seat was too soft and i raised the bars up two inches.

Ive now riden a Renegade and find everything Bullet says too be exactly correct. She is a big girl , but power is as good if not better than rappy 700, pulls harder through the tough stuff , and is a cushin to ride . ( Very similar to the ds650 in comfort level).

Cornering is not as "slidy" as the rappy 700 but i think with some better tyres I can fix that if needed.

I have decided to buy an 09 X now and dont think i will be dissapointed in any way. And the 09 has more power again and a few mods like better shocks etc.

Ive been riding quads for 10yrs + and this would have to be one of the most comfortable and easy quads ive ever ridden.
