 |
|
G'Day,
I have never ridden a quad in me life but would like to buy one so I can access some of the more isolated spots on the south WA coast.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice you can chuck my way.
Main thing I am after is plenty of grunt to get back up some pretty steep beach accesses, 2 seats, space to put a couple of boxes, front bar work to attach rod holders.
What I've seen so far on the net leads me to think a farm quad might be the way to go??????
Not too concerned about cost so long as its below $15k
Cheers
Omar |

Cheers for the help fallas. I've had a bit of an internet compare on the Can-Am Max Outlander 650 and Polaris Sportsman X2. So far the Can Am is ahead by a nose. A little lighter & not as wide; probably handle some of the steep inclines better???? Plus the front bar work looks to be able to accommodate fishing rod holders better. Hoping they are available in Esperance & I wont have to travel for days to pick up....... Have to wait till next week to find out.
I notice that you guys are having a disco on which ones got more power. Whats the verdict????? |

Whilst looking through some other forums I came across a lot of talk regarding frame damage and weak frames on the Can-Ams. Heres one example....

Not that I'll be doing real serious trail bashing. What are your thoughts on the Can-Am frames. Some folks on that forum seemed to think that Can-Am had fixed the problem???? |

i personally regard it as a weakeness in the outy, but all brands do have weaknesses , up to the individual and the application , and they do have fixes that can be made, they are a strong bike motor wise nice to ride also, maybe have you thought of buying a rhino or a rzr try them for size _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

Cheers for all the help fellas. I'm still stuck between CAN-AM Outlander Max 650 XT and Polaris Sportsman 500 X2.
I guess I have changed my mind towards the Polaris after reading about frame weaknesses in the Can-Am. Will phone some dealers down this neck of woopwoop tommorrow n see what they can offer. |

You're from classic dune country down there. Esperance etc. In my opinion you need a 4x4 quad. I use a 660 Yamaha grizzly for beach fishing excursions however I'm sure there are many folks on here who'll have equally informative opinions on other 4x4 quads. I like the auto on the Griz as there are times when trying to get your way through undergrowth when you need to guide your best fishing rods with a free left hand. The independent suspension is a winner also but I bet other manufacturers boast these features too.
I've run a bit on the Esperance areas as well as Ningaloo and Wagoe. Gotta have a 4x4 auto is my advice. _________________ The sun on my face, the wind in my hair & the freedom in my heart. |
