Hi everyone, as the title suggests im new to quads and im wondering what to buy. Initially i was going to buy 2nd hand but seeing the price of some 2nd hand ones make me think why bother. I've always wanted a banshee and pretty much havnt thought about anything else until you get on the net and here everyone else's opinions.
Am i realistic in thinking i can get a new banshee for $8000 or should i just settle for 2nd hand or maybe something else?? |

i'm not going to sway your judgement one way or the other but when you decide what you want, i have 2 used quads for you to consider.
1 is an 04 banshee with nerfs, dmc alien exhaust, kill switch, reed spacers, boost bottle, and bar end plugs on factory racing bars, it's on consignment for a qrsa club member and we're thinking somewhere around $6800.00 is reasonable
the other is an 04 yfz450 with nerfs end plugs and kill switch, gytr graphics, and new tyres, again on consignment for a qrsa member and about $8750.00 would secure this one.
feel free to pm me your email address and i'll get some pics off to you. any offers on these two rides will be considered
good luck making up your mind as i'm sure you will receive many varied opinions on what is best but ultimately it's gotta be the right bike for you and your riding requirements |

i know a yfz 450 for sale in perth if your interested around your price range(maybe a touch more)
although a banshee wouldnt be much more than 8000 brand new if thats what your after
if you do get one check out atvwa.com
they have a ride area up in woodridge 40kms south of lancelin
much safer and more fun than the pines |

gday swanga. mate i to cant sway votes but this may help. About a yr & a half ago i was in the same situation u r in now. So many brands, models, engine sizes , features & the hard thing is they all claim to be "the best" "the fastest" so what do u decide ?( still no idea). Well like u i dont plan on racing but it still doesnt help (plus im no speed demon)& the 1 big problem u have is in most cases u cant simply go to a dealer & ask 4 a test ride like u can with say a road bike, so u've still got no idea which 1 to go with. This was what i did, i went to the ATV club races, watched the bikes perform then i went & spoke with the riders, then more research, 1 thing i cant stress enough is dont b scared to ask questions!!. After seeing what speeds these sports atv's did, how reliable they r, the way they corner & stop (etc) it gave me an idea of what they could do.Next i sat down & thought about the way i ride a bike & what sort of areas will i probably be riding in?. after that its about the budget but it looks like u already have that sorted out, 1 good thing is there r plenty of great 2nd handers out there & chances r most of them will have all the add-on crap u would want them to have. Mate all the main stream brands rock like suzuki, honda & yamaha but they all behave slightly different so keep that in mind. I ride the honda TRX450r & its a great bike thats reliable & trouble free + it suits my riding style but ive also ridden a yamaha YFZ450 & its a boomer as well so it will come down to preference, i went with the honda because i like the ways its more agro down low but that was my preference...c what others riders on the forum say, what i think, others maynot agree with but its my point of veiw & thats how i made my decision....good luck mate, let us know how u went once u buy a quad...cheers _________________ 04 TRX 450r

thanx OZ, mate i think its the most logical way to approach it. In about a yrs times ill be using the same method to buy a quad for my wife, she rides my bike but thinks the low-mid range power curve is way to agressive for her liking & now that ive had the piston & cam done she refuses to get on it (shes a novice with only limited experience) so ill show her bikes that r more tamer with a smoother power delivery (eg) 350 raptor or a stock LT-400, she likes both of those but again it comes down to her riding style which is cruisen but at the same time she knows that if she wants a bit of side ways action the bike will do it. _________________ 04 TRX 450r

| Thanks Big Jb TRX450, it is hard and my mind has changed so many times as well as my budget, i would really like to only spend around 7000 or under and was looking at banshee's cos i thought i may be able to get one new for 8000, but checking the local papers i've seen a few trx400's going for a good price and are reasonably new. I guess i'll have to keep looking until the right one comes along. |

| mate i could sway your vote being a yamaha freak but i wont bother trying except to say find me a quad brand new for the same price as a banshee that will be as fast and scary and ill buy that if not a banshee will teach you everything you need to know about riding quads and the best thing is second hand parts for them are everywhere good luck with your choice ,, one more thing a banshee is cheaper to rebuild if you kill it |

Have you had a look at the Can-Am BRP (Bombardier) I have looked around as well and was not prepared to spend a lot on a second hand half blown ATV. I also looked at the new range of "Full size" ATV from China with a 300cc & 350cc Just landed which have the same power as the DS250 (if you believe the Chinese specs) however, whatever the shops tell you, most do not carry any replacement parts (I know because I also have a 150cc Chinese for my kids) if you shop around you will get the DS 250 "full Size ATV" for around $5800. I have just ordered one and quality looks very good.....Can't tell you anymore until I get it, however, if you not going to race it I am sure this 250cc will do the job why pay $9000 for a 350cc raptor which will do much the same if you just want it for fun.
