What great air! He must be chuffed. At least I know if he's ever stuck behind me (coming up to lap me) he can jump over the top of me with ease
Well done Mikey
Now get his photo's into ATV action and get yourself a copy. Might be their First (?) international report. _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

Thanks everyone for the kind words ... Future Aussie champ there ...
Let me tell you a little story ... As you may (or may not) know, we are busy with our visa application to join you all in you lovely country. The application is all don't, and is now in with the DIAC for processing ... so we hope to know soon ...
Anyway, I digress ... We went to a quad and bike show here in Johannesburg, where we saw the stand for a local dealership that sells a bike that Mikey races flat track on. On his stand he had just launched a range of kit, and the shirt in particular was in the colours of the South African flag. I said to Mikey that we should perhaps get one for him, then when he races in Aus, everyone will spot him. He turned round and said "Do I have to? I rather want an Australian flag one!" heheheh

Theres just a lil Green bike at the top of the General Chat section about the My Rides page.
Send em your pics story and where to contact (here or whever) and after that its in the laps of the Gods as they say.
Apparently there has been a good response to the section but you gotta be in it to win it!
I think he might have a better chance if dad stands at the apex of his jump with a helmet and apple on his head
Oh and congratulations and good luck on your move. _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

To be honest Ive never had to deal with getting anyone into the country directly so only have anecdotal advice and no one really to ask, Im not even sure what DIAC is, I assume Dept of Immigration ......... sumthin sumthin.
Did you apply through the consulate there?, stake the person out, by telephone or face to face get after them daily, get dates for things to have happened by and follow them up. Be professional and courteous in your follow ups. Never loose it ever, a bueracrat loves it.
It really really helps if one of you has a job here to substantiate your immigraion even on a work visa and work on residency here which is a much longer process. Get a job, your employer sponsors you, you're in the country as soon as they stamp Visa. This is a major trump card, get your resume's over here.
We have specific skills shortages, what kind of work do you do? The govt also favors people who are willing to live country instead of city, was there a question like that on your application you can change.
Is there any hardship or discrimination you can claim? Get your form amended.
Can you actually state Mikey's record, is he national champ? an you work your way here through a Motorcycle Australia sponsorship (No idea if that even exists) we have given privaledge to world class atheletes before. Especially when they dont have the training facilities coaching and competition available at home. But that is mostly amateur Olympic type stuff never seen that done for motor sport.
But really as i said I have no direct knowledge just some annecdotal stuff I have learned through transporting foriegners aroud with the business I used to be in.
Sorry I dont have a direct answer for you, lacking anything substantive, stake out your case worker at consulate. All I have heard of doing any good.
Good luck |

Thanks very much for the ideas and answers. We have used a migration agency, and they have been very good. Our application is in at the DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship), and all documentation is submitted. All we are waiting for is a Case Officer to assess our application.
I am in IT (an IT Manager) and we have had a positive result from the ACS (Australian Computer Society). We are also going for a "State Sponsorship", and we have been accepted by the SA (South Australian) State Government. So, like I said above, we just need a Case Officer to go over everything, and stamp (I am also not really looking for someone to put the application through ... just to move on up the queue a little (read LOT ). If the application does not meet the requirements, then we need to be told ... also I am not wanting to break any laws!). Apparently there is a very big back log at the moment ...
The migration agent is in Brisbane, and the Assessment Office in Adelaide, so although I understand what you are saying, there is not really anyone to put pressure on ... Just wondering if anyone had a mate, or knew someone who knew someone (you know how it goes ... ).
Thanks again ... and I am sure the guys are on the ball and will have our application on their desk soon ... and will their best to get it all sorted!! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

Thanks very much for that!!! Looks like things are moving along!!
We are applied on a subclass 475, State Sponcership. This is the quickest (without a job there already) way we could get there.
I looked at a 457 visa, before we go to where we are now, but to be honest, people where just not interested to even interview me, let alone offer anything. So we just decided to "wait and see". _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!
