Being new to the forum I dont know if there has been a previous post on training, whats available and when?

I assume juniors are getting some training at MX meets.

But we have the likes of 4wd clubs doing regular training, road bikes doing phillip Island from beginner to advanced.

For us we may even have a bigger training need because of our different disciplines.

And what do we do for late life new entrants, who either want to trail of track ride?

I have seen something on HART a few times but Ive never seen it actually run.

Instructional DVDs even?

there have been training courses run in Vic before, mostly aimed at racers though. The year at the Thumb Pump 300 there was also a training session for juniors, other than that there is not much aimed at sport ATV riders.

honda do run some ATV Training but I gather that it mostly aimed a the Agricultural sector for OHS.

All sounds a little below par for our new and burgeoning enterprise.

Another outstanding reason for vicmore park.

Maybe a even a ride tips section in ATV action but Id even only call that an as well.

Training for this gear mst be hands on.

Can I be the first to make a joke about tree climbing and assessment even though I didnt see it? Laughing Laughing Cool

But of course Yogie all jokes aside, I'd have to ask you where you were going to train us (and say any new entrants seeking new skills or upgrading skills) in all seriousness? Just as a hypothetical? Something that all of us need to consider.

All jokes aside it does sound pretty sad doesnt it.

Nothing really for new entrants at a teen to senior age for either race or rec riding. Maybe hasnt been a big issue to now with Rec Riding not really being a "thing to do" per se.

It is a "future" thought no doubt but are we are seeing a mini boom in interest already? Seems to be a lot more posting, how many Newbs?

Im hoping though it will quickly become a big thing (always the optimist) and that means we'll need qualified instructors at all levels and a place to train.

In the interim there are ride days at Seymour MX and Im sure we could work a deal. Is it ideal? I doubt it.

Im sure MX will be able to put a few things in place asap, but as Rec Riders do we really consider somone coming out of a TAFE farm safety course a "safe" rec rider. The may skew any stats by being accidents waiting to happen, that being in the Vic Roads data collection period I have posted about.

I dont think I have my finger on the solution but it may be a piece of puzzle that comes charging at us so we better give it some thought. Wont hurt ou brains too much will it? Hrm Hrm Wink

There is and has been for a number of years now a Qualified and Licenced Junior coach available through the QRCV, to conduct the 5 hrs of mandatory coaching needed to obtain or renew a Junior Licence or 1 event licence through MA. Senior coaching if required can also be arranged by contacting Hugh Smith on 0405227360.

firstly I was looking for a good vantage spot for the trail ride, secondly I thought I was gorge of the jungle, but there was no "watch out for that tree" thirdly aint ever seen tree on a race track, so think yourself lucky and if you do call me and I'll train you (for a large fee) on how to go around it... Wink
