Hi there, we are looking to get a couple of farm quads for general farm duties as well as mustering on rough terrain.
Out of these 3 quads whaich one do you think might be the better option
1. Yamaha grizzly 450 $ 10500
2. Yamaha grizzly 400 $ 9500
3 Suzuki kingquad 450 $ 10000
or if you have any other quads in mind , would be good to hear your input, cheers _________________ Thanks to:

For farm duties I think you would have to consider the Honda. They are pretty much bullet proof with low maintenence because of the auto style g'box......no CVT belt. I would only look at the TRX500 or the 680 though; compared to other brands the Honda's dont put out as much power.
At the same time I see nothing wrong with the ones you have listed.

Tell your dealer to sharpen his pencil a bit , you can buy 07 model grizzly 700 fuel injected for around 10900 at the moment , remember it is a buyers market you pay what you want for them , in a medium price range of utility quads i would stick to the honda and yamaha _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

I agree with grizzly its a buyers market .ive got a 2008 yamaha 700 and i carnt fault it.
had a 400 kodiak before this one for three years 700hrs on it could not kill the thing .it was only a solid rear axle very rough to ride.
The power steering on the 700 is great .
so not to plug the yamaha but a 550 is coming out early next year with power steering .
i did my homework before i bought the 700. looked at the polaris (too heavy) but very comfartable to ride. canam(frame too light)cracking problems. kawasaki(dont like the drive belt set up ) suzuki forget about it.
honda(legs get hot on side of motor when going slow, low ground clearance.
The yamaha has the best drive system .can go in deep water and mud doesnt slip.
but the honda would be my next bet reliable . hope this helps a bit.
oh you should ride them before you buy as well if possiable.
cheers. _________________ 2008 yamaha grizzly 700EPS /EFI

Cheers fellas for the great input, looks like the Yammy might be the go then , the dealer i talked to said the honda 500 was good but more expencive than the rest. The suzuki seems good with fuel injection , but not as proven as the grizzly !!
The grizzly has the runs on the board i guess.
What do you recon a good price would be on the 450 around the 10,000 mark?
Is the power steering a good thing , i did see the 550 grizzly in the dirt wheels mag last month , looks good.
Not real sure if we really need the diff lock , thats why i thought of the 400 grizzly , but never know when you might use it and the low box option.

I would be still telling him to sharpen his pencil , i mean for another grand i would rather have the 700 with the power steering and fuel injection , and it has diff lock.
I have towed a trailer loaded with a combined weight of 2.5 ton behind my grizzly in mud and the diff lock was of great help ,, my holden commodore could not get enough traction to pull it from where it was.
ask yogie on this forum about the price he was offered on a 2007 grizzly 700cc in geelong
I see your in Se of sa , not far from me prolly, sw of vic , im happy to check out a few prices here for you if you like , _________________ 2012 Can am Outlander Xt 1000cc

The power steering is great ,the only way to descibe is this...i dont know how old you are but bare with me.
If your driving an EH Holden and hit the gutter, it with wrench the wheel out of ur hand . then get in a new holden and do the same it takes all the shock out.
in other words if you hit a large rock or stump it wont rip ur arms off with power steering . my old 400 my shoulders and wrists used to ache after riding all day.
if your going to keep it for a while get the diff lock, like you said you never know.
As you said you want it on the farm you might have to tow somthing and need that extra grip.
Sorry carnt help with prices thou ,bit out of touch since ive bought mine ,. _________________ 2008 yamaha grizzly 700EPS /EFI
