Hi all new to this forum,just like to hear some input from you guys.
Looking for quad for wife,i ride ltr450 son ltz50 wifes been nagging
for one for too long now,she handles the 450 ok (bit too much for her though). Was looking at a blaster,i reakon she`ll out grow it and want more (like everything in life). Thought about a Rapt 250,dont know much about them,any suggestions would be great.
Looking at buying in next few months

I initially had a Polaris 90 and quickly grew out of it, I now have a YFZ450 (I'm around 60kg) and I love it, I definately wouldn't want anything smaller.
Depends on the type of riding she will be doing, if at any stage she would like to compete then a 450 would have to be the way to go, all the girls I ride with have 450's.

Suzuki LTZ 400 might be worth a look at if you want to stick with the same brand or a maybe a Honda TRX400, both good reliable machines. If she can ride your 450 then she would find a 250 4-stroke pretty gutless. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

i think a kfx400 or ltz400- not a 400ex tho, because i believe the other 2 have more power
I dont think a blaster is the best bike to start on, specially for a girl as you need to be able to chuck them around to get any speed out of it
witha 250 she'll probly grow outa that pretty fast

I'd have to say look at the klx 400 or ltz 400 too.
Good reliable bike and reverse is great addition so your chick doesnt have to man handle it as often when turning around or stuck.....

I've always recommended the lightest bike in the class for ladies.
For any lighter rider a lighter bike means greater control, easier riding and probably better track times.
The new Raptor 250 is a very light machine and might be the way to go.
I always thought the Yammy and Honda 450's were better than the 400 models just because they are significantly lighter.
The Can-Am DS450 is now the lightest on the market at 156kg.
With their tricky front end they have the smoothest steering too.
The fuel injection and progressive bottom end power makes them smooth and easy to ride.

Because they are unsafe, unstable pieces of junk. The 450's are far better handling and are only as fast as you turn the throttle. Sorry, I think I may have drank too much JD before that post last night. They are very narrow with a lot of the weight positioned fairly high up. The 250 has been designed as more of a sport quad than the 350. There was a small lady rider here that had a 350 and she struggled with it, got on a 450 and away she went. I'm sure they would be fine for general trail riding, but start pushing it and I'd be looking for something else. I think thats what I was trying to say. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC

Back on track dmcc said "ltr450 is ok but a bit too much" so i guess they ain't going racing any time soon if at all.
I think for rec & trail riding the 400 suzuki/kwaka offer the best value & the 400ex might be a bit underpowered in comparision but still gets you everywhere & are one of the most nimble trail quads around.

I have been reading this topic with alot of interest and found that your comments and advice ahs been wonderful.
I too have a missus who would love to be part of the ATV weekeds away with me and the rugrats. At the moment she stays with the tent and makes us lunch whilst we are out on our bikes. Sometimes there is some food left over for us.
Although she is quite nimble and very athletic she weighs a fair bit (128.7kgs), I think she is large boned.
Here is a video of her new stunt that she has been working on with her AG200.
Now i was originally thinking the raptor 90 would be a good starter ATV, im not sure she would be able to control it like she is able to control the AG200.
What ATV do you think is more suited to her frame and style of stunts??? _________________ if you ride hard but dont fall off then you arent riding hard enough

If the 450 is too much for her mate i would go the 400 and the diffnce ex to LTR is racer boy stuff.
I usually dont "give up" bikes Im watching but heres a real suggestion for you. Nice modern 400ex second hand half price. Get her a seat on one and even better a ride and if she's comfortable you decide where and how much, new or dealer 2nd hand or private 2nd hand.

Fair call Goat, because I have never weighed a quad in my life.
I'm too lazy for that.
Actually I don't even know anyone who's weighed a quad.
Ride a DS450 and tell me it's not the lightest 'feeling' and easiest to throw around full size quad you've ever ridden.
I reckon that makes them a good machine for lighter or new riders.

and geeman more difference between the ltr 450 and ltz 400 then just racer boy parts the power and response is huge difference the 400 standard feels very farm quady in power _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

Like your wife I used to be the pit bitch and got sick of it, so nagged at my hubby to get me a bike also. Of we went bike hunting and my choice was a Suzuki 450 and it was the best choice I ever made. I like to get some speed up and at times have had a go at the mx tracks, I have tried the yamaha & honda 450 and my sons blaster and this is the bike I feel most comfortable on. It feels really stable, wide and I can go around corners confidently and not fear the fealling of rolling over. Had when you want that speed it is there. Lots of women I know have 450's, its only goes as fast as you want it to. And there not that heavy, I can pull my one around. _________________ Ang, Lisa & Boys Versaci
