Here is an responce I received from Vic Roads this morning (16/07/2008) as to why Quads cant get rec rego:
Thankyou for your email
In reference to your enquiry, only two-wheeled motorcycles can be registered as a recreation vehicle therefore quad bikes are not eligible for recreational registration
Its good to see they know how to explain and answer. 
The original e-mail was asking why?
So what they are saying is that cause they have 4 wheels instead of 2 they cant be rec registered

Lugz you're only being quoted the definition so they dont have to have a debate with you.
I would expect nothing to happen until after the Vic Roads has its contract on safety of recreational riding in Victoria (or possibly a trial period during) because quads are in scope and the cant collect data on an illegal activity.
I HOPE this proves to be the case. |
