How much are they asking? These quads are very good for the average rider. Geometry of this machine is the best of the bunch as polaris have been making quads for a long time. The 450 has a better suspension package than the 525. The ktm engine is high maintance which simply means change the oil every 3-5 hours and use stainless filters to kept costs down and use only good synthetic oil. parts are easiest of all brand but watch oem can be pricey.

THE BAD The air box is the worst of all brands at the moment . the seat pops off now and then . the rear axle carrier clamps need to be treated with love. the side panels can wear a hole in the radiator.

Overall this is good quad as all quads have there bad bits. If your aware of the little things and watch them you will good life out of whatever you buy.

There is heaps of guys riding these things competitively on this forum

Probably the fastest stock quad out at the moment.

I am a bit like Timmah,I would like a few opinions
I have been looking into a new Quad , currently have a 2003 Raptor 660, and the Polaris 525 looks like a good choice. Now that Polaris are selling 07 525 IRS for $8995 , and 08 525S &525 IRS for $9995. Are there any major Problems with the IRS , or should I stick with the 525s???? any advice from anyone.

Does the 07 differ much ,beside cosmetic differences, from the 08, is there anything else to look out for

Polaris seem to being trying alot to get marketshare at the moment, and with specials lke this, Bring it on.

Thanks

I've been considering the irs model, i'm not racing this thing so i think the irs models will be the go. Polaris have been doing irs for sometime now. I feel this thing would have far better traction and ride capabilities than the the fixed. Would i be correct in saying this.

Cheers

Well in the strictest sense mate its not built for the 250 or 450 classes which are kinda the GP equiv classes in quading.

Being a Nth America brand its built more for the style of races the undertake, huge amounts of enduro's compared to here. Trail riding in itself can be just as difficult as an enduro event which is where you'll find people saying its the ultimate trail weapon. Well even thats debatable say against a ???? I would say the Can Am renegade would make up in the wet, rough and straights that it may loose in the cornering.

But its a bike that can be raced very competitively in a number of other categories.

Difference is the straight axle is for racing MX tracks and the IRS is for racing cross country, ensuro style events where you may encounter something like a log crossing, a creek bed. The IRS absolutely is the shizzle in that kind of terrain so it more of an off track racer.

Well thats my thoughts, Im sure others will have two bobs to say about it. Wink

And you're saying the Yam's have more go at 450? or Just that the 525 ( 510cc) is the only way to go.

I always thought the KTMs got raves at any capacity they made n ure saying the 450 cant pull?

Better be changin youre name to "Metalman" or whatever that film was with Michael Downey JR in it. Laughing Laughing

Well best sell your Yams and grap a 525!!

Good luck

Gavin

Sorry Chino just completely misread you're post I think.

The Polaris 450 and 525 are very different bikes if I think thats what your asking.

If you go on Bikepoint.com.au you cant compare two models specs side by side by selecting them and you'll get a look see.

Is that a better answer?? Wink

Geeman - yes the scrambler is auto and AWD
yes we need to sell my baby cause we need the $$ Crying or Very sad

re 450 and 525's the suspension on these models are different.

re SA and IRS
our 525SA feels like it has more power on the ground than the 525IRS - this could be weight or I don't know. but with the IRS in the bush - the rear suspension really looks after you

yes however Polaris have provided a simple solution and I know people that had the sprocket come loose and Polaris even replaced the sprockets and other bits damaged - not all manufactures will do that without being asked too.

Hi folks I bought an Outlaw 500 the same as the 525 but a different engine and not be rude but is was the biggest peace of rubbish I have ever owned. I took it back to the dealer and told him to shove it and got a 700 Raptor. The funny thing is the Outlaw still sits on the dealer floor over 12 months later no one will touch it. If I told you all the things wrong with it I would be still typing next year. I also owned a Polaris 800 and that was just as bad. The reliability and build quality are rubbish. Sorry folks just my personal experence and opinion. Pray nothing goes wrong because Polaris dont like to cough up warranty claims.

Polaris dont threaten the Web Server like you do and have this post
removed.

Regards Bad Banshee

sounds like a load of crap 2 me - any bike is as good as the servicing and polaris has over my 10 years experience of owning them been ready and willing to do product recalls to insure their safety. We brought a 500 outlaw 2006 and we sold it a couple months ago - our seat would pop off but a r clip fixed it.
