Yamaha/QuadridersSA Enduro Sprint Series-Round 2 was run at Waikerie yesterday, Sunday the 24th of September. Conditions were perfect, with just enough wind to blow the dust away, and some light showers over night to settle things down a little. Neil Armstrong was out there again on that Dinli 450 that some of you seem to take delight in bagging the "profanity removed" out of, but I've gotta tell ya, he rode it hard all day and it didn't miss a beat. Not bad for a $9000rrp chinese import. It get's our tick of approval.
Howie, Maggots and Phil Hall were all absolutely on fire, with Terry Richardson from Mildura doing his best to piss of the South Aussie contingent, but when you have your YFZ450 fully dumped and set up for MX, and many of the trees on the course give a standard width 450 about 10mm clearance either side, something is gonna give. On this occasion it was a rear tyre and a front rim...maybe next time hey Terry? Noodles was doing great in lap 3, but lost about 30 seconds when he had to turn around and walk back a fair way along the track to find a piece of his bike....oh no, hang on, I read that wrong. He had to go back to find his ENTIRE BIKE! The old Mallee Tree Superman, nice work. "profanity removed" those Predators are tough, not a scratch on it (he lost a little bark though).
Thanks to The Donnamator and Clint for stepping up and running the time keeping side of things, and to the Officials and track markers for doing their thing.....as usual! Presentation and results announcement will be at the next club meeting on Wednesday 11th of October.
Sounds like round 3 in late November will be a bit of a mystery destination. Maggots just loves keeping us in suspence, but if it turns out to be anything like the Waikerie enduro, count me in.

I have the helmet cam that Patto took downloaded onto a DVD (including him running into a tree). I will try and bring it along to the next club meeting.

that track was 16.8 km most of them are about 15-20 km long and do about 5 laps, usually takes about 25-30 minutes per lap if you can ride a quad you can do an enduro no probs. there are two awards one for best total time and one for consistancy (least variance between lap times) so even if your not the fastest rider out there you can still win. great fun usually easy tracks that even juniors can do.

Basically they were run by the hour and riders left at 1 minute intervals, so if you started at say 11am your next race was 12pm, so some people had 25mins break, others had 10-15mins.

Refuelly wasn't a problem cause there was time.

Up to you if you wanted to use a camel back.

There were about twelve guys to start with all in the same class, as Dave mentioned even if you weren't the fastest you could still win consistency.

A few weeks earlier a pony express enduro was held which meant you either rode for 3 hours solid, which a few people did, or with a partner in which you took turns. Didn't go but from reports it was a lot of fun (and hard work)
