Interesting that KTM claim to have the first serious factory sports quad out with high and low speed compression adjustment front and rear.
My Renegade 800X has had that for a long time.
And i've passed a few KTM's on the race track on my dead stock "true sport quad too"
that aughta get some bites.
Good on all the new manufacturers for pushing the models up.
Can't wait to see all the 2009 models.

that's true froggy, i hear it's so narrow that on rainy days, bullet parks it in the vacant space between his ears to keep it out of the weather lol
(and yes i'm still talking about the renegade, - not what you are thinking mr froggster ) |

Just having a rev fourtrax.
I wasn't serious when I entered the Renegade in MX.
Howerver, it did turn out to be one hell of a sports bike.
Keep in mind it was only the second time I'd ridden the bike.
Honestly it's allways lived at QuadSquad and I never even saw it.
I really struggled because I did not have simple things like hand controls adjusted to suit me (the reason I could not get off the throttle when I came off the back of that berm).
Race 2 was OK because I had most things adjusted.
Pitty, because if I stayed on the track the standard Rene might have won the day (over all the other modified vet sport quads).
You do have to ride a renegade a bit differently, but they are definitely a sport quad (don't tell anyone I fitted a tow ball last week).
They are only 1150mm wide but handle evtremely well for what they are.
Well, well enough to keep up with any other sports quads around an MX track.
Imagine a Renegade with a +2 front end, heaps of weight reduction, no lights etc, maybe 22 inch tyres.
With some real basic work (like most other bikes have done) I reckon it would be a wicked MX bike.
Maybe Smitty should have a crack in Pro's.
A stock Renegade might also be the cheapest, easiest way into the top 10 at Finke too.
Hopefully we go OK in Safari too.
That would have to make it the best alrounder on the planet.
There might be people who come up with crap about what should and shouldn't be allowed on a MX track...
but really that's the very crap we could all do without.
We've got Rules, so opinions don't count.
I think I'll always have trouble with "that suzuki"
Something to aim for there.
Tate gets a lot of holeshots, out jumps me every time and rides like a demon.
Slow down young fella _________________ Can-Am X Team

yeah i think the holeshot thing alot have said the suz holeshots easiest out of most but it dont have the aggressive top end power like the others which is a bummer
and yes bullet i know these young fellas got to ease up on us older guys in their races _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

| The price on that ktm page is hard to believe ($11300) as they told me $14600 up here for the xc model. The sx model has everything on it so it would shorely be more expensive. If thats the true price i think we will see alot of orange quads on the start line! |

talking to a KTM dealer the other day who said about 19500 in aus which isn't bad considering the specs...
hey bullet - did the renegade stocks shocks hold up in the finke? Most Darwinites stock shocks on the renegades need rebuilding after a days endro.... _________________ Family is most important.... next is our quads

Not quite.
I blew out a LHF seal on the way home but that was a damage, not a wear thing.
I got a good rock blasting when overtaking a CRF450 at about 20km from Alice.
I did not realise at the time, but when I cleaned the bike down at home I noticed a big chunk out of the shaft.
So I think that tore the seal.
Quad Squad serviced all the shocks replacing the oil with some heaps better synthetic stuff.
That should work for the Darwinites too. _________________ Can-Am X Team
