As all my ridings on dunes I'm thinking about a set of paddles for the 400ex, any recommendations? And what about getting them to wa, what sort of freight cost would I expect?

Hey ex rider. I have run two different type of paddles on my raptor one set being the sand geckos which are pretty good for a stock bike and they are reasonably cheap but now i run the Itp sandstars which provide plenty of straight line hookup but not as good a cornering as the geckos. It all depends on what style of riding you are into if you like hill climbing and straight line stuff i would go the sandstars but if you are into sliding the arse i wouldnt reccomend them as much.
Grab a copy of this months atv action they did a shoot out on paddles in it _________________ 01 RAPTOR 660. 55RWHP |

Great thanks, just read the article, the Sand Trax got a pretty good rap and look like good value as well. anyone recommend a replacement rim without blowing the budget? _________________ 05 400ex

I love my sand dunes as much as anyone out there.
I have tried sand tyres and didn't like them.
I thought the Sand Stars had a good feel to them and slid OK.
The Geckos had way too much straight line traction to be any fun, and I couldn't get them off my bike quick enough.
It depends what you like.
I think the best thing about sand dunes is drifting around everywhere at full noise like you're snow skiing.
For me, good multi purpose trail tyres are the best.
A centre rib design front tyre will steer better and a big fat rear tyre without an agressive square shoulder will slide perfectly.
Swap with a mate, and try before you buy. _________________ Can-Am X Team

For sure, this time of year on the dunes its more like the speedway , they could be handy in the summer when the sand is gutless. _________________ 05 400ex
