thanks for results Gaz
David- apparently Aarons quad had a bit of a spill off the trailer and did a few barell rolls and cartwheels on its own. Not sure what or how but thats what we heard.
Smitty seems to be doing really well as is Beechey and Rick.
Congrats to all- they are all doing so well.
good luck to everyone
cheers

OOT is out of time
there is a time limit set so that if you haven't made it in by that time the sweepers will try and find you
bullet last year did it on a jumbo quad 90 /125 cc also oot but did finished the race on the way back to alice in the dark
hope that answers your question |

did you also see that someone had a fatal accident.
this is always the news that you don't want to hear.
it was a 37 year old guy, he hit a tree.
does anyone know if it was a quad or a bike? _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |

A motorcyclist has died competing in the Finke desert race.
The 37-year-old died after his motorcycle crashed 130 kilometres south of Alice Springs.
A spokeswoman for Alice Springs Police says it appears he crashed into a tree at about 2:30pm.
It is the third time a competitor has died in the event's 33 year history.
Race organisers say the 460 kilometre off-road event will go on.
Tomorrow about 500 motorbikes and 50 cars will take on the 220 kilometre return trip to Alice Springs.
Race vice-president Damien Ryan says the man's death is a tragedy.
"The Finke Desert race family is very sad with what's happened today, but we will honour the person's death with the continuation of the race tomorrow," he said.
"Everybody in the event will feel saddened by what's happened, but I think they will also ride with this person's spirit in mind."
Two people have also been admitted to the Alice Springs Hospital with spinal injuries.
A 38-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition with spinal injuries and a 16-year-old boy is also recovering in hospital with minor spinal injuries.
A 44-year-old man is in a stable condition after suffering chest injuries.
The injury toll for this year's race is 12, with the majority suffering broken limbs.

Does that mean that you are out for the rest of the race. Same with a DNF ? Are they not allowed to continue with the race on the next day ?
Eg:- Ed Hargreaves DNF and Lisa Hoyle (Mrs Bullet) OOT - no more racing for the entire weekend. |

I don't think you can start on the Sunday if you DNF or timeout. Those riders are not listed on the start time sheets for day2.
At the same time I would not be supprised if you could complete the course but start after the rest of the field........if you didn't have lift back to Finke then you would have to ride it anyway.

Mitch just spoke to Luke - Smitty and Luke had a great race changing the lead between them a few times apparently.
Smitty ended up taking the lead with Beechey close on heels. Rick loved the dust and made up big ground and news is maybe Ovens has broken collar bone and still finished 4th.
Man we breed them tough down here in Victoria!!!!!
Great news guys and well done on a fantastic effort.
cheers

hey Luke, congrats on a great result for Polaris in a cloud of Can Am's !
I was gonna ask if you had a lap around the local track on your way through town, sounds like you didn't slow down for town's though |

Hi all. Finally back and rested up. Had a blast and the track was the best so far as I can remember.
My KTM did not want to co operate on day two (suspect head gasket) but still had fun. The after party was great but Luke B piked out and went to bed .
A massive thanks to the Race Motorcycles fuel crew Scot, Andrew, Billy, Thomas, Billy, Danny, Dom (Hustler ATV parts), Frank (trailer looks awesome), Johnny and KTM.
Well done to all those that went and had a crack and those that helped out.
Congrats to those that finished even with broken bones! _________________ When I'm racing I'm living..... everything else is just waiting. |

Team Bullet Can-Am thanks everyone for their intrest and support.
MrsBullet did start day 2 after finishing day one 15mins over time.
So day 2 was not an officially timed run.
She is so happy that she got to complete the distance though, and hopes to be back to smash it next year.
Hopefully without pre-broken bones.
I was stoked with my run.
A lot of things go right and wrong for every Finke entrant.
Sometimes more 'ups' sometimes more 'downs'.
All things considered though, I would have been happy with a top 10 to 20 finish, and dared not dream about being in the top ten on a stock Renegade.
A big thanks to Quad Squad for tuning my downsized 730cc Renegade back up to full power and a 7th place finish.
I used every bit of the stock bike right down to the standard ITP tyres.
I hope I proved that Can-Am have a true sports monster on the market.
Loved it...
We'll see you all again next year _________________ Can-Am X Team
