Suggestion is not to wait for one of them to join this forum ,,, but to send a letter requesting that you all meet and follow up that way , there is power in numbers bring to there attention your greivences and make it official , even go to your local mp there are so many different ways to address the situation so as to be heard

hey oldrodder next time i go racing ...nope no towing fee ... lets say a 7.5 to 8 hrs drive to get there and have those fuel costs ... camping fee .... using citylink tunnel then the 7.5 hr drive home plus food and drink

all for 3 laps of practice and 3 races of 4 laps

oh yes i love my sport awesome fun and yes grave digger is right ma insurance is only for public liability really it dont cover the rider

i can understand your opinion on it but alsdo the trophies and prizes are ussually paid for by sponsors aswell so alot of it goes to MA

Grave digger and Oz,
You are both right in thinking that we still have a great facilty to ride at a inexpensive cost BUT!

The reason we are all so upset is that what we have now relative to what we had just over 6 months ago hurts.

We used to have stockton dunes, the biggest dunes in the southern hemisphere to ride around in. The place you could go and ride to get away from it all, felt so good it was like you were on another planet. So much space you rarely came across another rider and definitley didnt have to dodge 4wd's.

Now we have been confined to a minute area, decimated with 4wd ruts in the flatest part of the whole beach. It is heavily populated with inexperienced 4wd signa sight see'rs. There is nothing more interesting to do rather than ride along next to each other and see who gets to the other end first, but you cant go over 40km/h. We are under constant survailance, we get our photo's taken in the carpark to go on record (is that even legal without us signing a release form?) We get nothing short of harassed by the NPWS.

I cant complain about the enforcing of the rego and permit, this is something that has been in place for some time and we have been lucky for the leaniency up until now. I do not mind paying this for my beach going vehicle. if i now have to pay this for my tow vehicle, though i do not agree with it, i guess $30 extra a year will not kill me. BUT the point is whats next? Am i going to come back to the carpark to find my trailer has been booked for not having a permit?

You can say we have nothing to complain about all you want but think of this Oz and you may be able to relate.
Lets just say you turn up to your next MX meet, the thing that you love doing so much, just like us with stockton. The thing that your happy to pay no matter what. you get there and without any prior notice you get told,
"sorry we've had to take out all the jumps, oh and the berms and corners. In fact the track is now just 30m circle that we've let some guys in 4wds do donuts across yesterday, we are actually going to run all classes at once in what ever direction they would like to go. Oh and the guys in the 4wds? yeah well they're back and we thought we'd let them back out there too. Dont be suprised if when you come off the track we have left a little something to remember us by under your wiper blade. Hope you have a great day, its all for the greater good of man kind!"

Would you feel like you're getting your full dollar value then?

(sorry i wasnt going for the record of the longest single reply)

PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 1:09 pm Post subject: Parking Permit ??? Reply with quote Back to top

I am not annoyed at the extra $30 what I am annoyed about is the way they are doing it, and fining vehicles parked in the car park, tell us the tow vehicle needs a permit, don't talk to us and then leave a fine when we are not there.

I have written to the Hunter Coast Area Manager but have not yet received a reply.

This is a quote from the NPWS own brochure on Beach driving at Stockton.

"There are two vehicle permits available for the Worimi Conservation Lands (WCL): a Beach Vehicle Permit for 4WD access to Stockton Beach; and a Recreational Vehicle Area Permit enabling RTA conditionally registered vehicles to access the Recreational Vehicle Area of the WCL."

Reading further on their own brochure it does say that you need a permit for transporting your RVA but it says nothing about that you need this even if you are only going to park in the car park.
We all thought this was if you were transporting your RVA vehicle all the way out to the beach, not to the car park.
Their own information contradicts itself, it is as clear as mud.
They need signage up saying
"ANY VEHICLE PAST THIS POINT REQUIRES A PERMIT - EVEN TO PARK IN THE CAR PARK"

So if you are fined please write to Mr Rob Gibbs he is the Hunter Coast Area Mangaer of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Email: rob.gibbs@npws.nsw.gov.au
and point out the flaws in his own information.
Mr Gibbs is currently on leave
The Acting Area Manager is

im not even sure if nsw has a quad club fullstop do they?

maybe a better option then all doing individual things

I recently wrote to NPWS regarding our problem and this was part of the reply.

" When the Worimi Conservation Lands were declared in early 2007, the beach vehicle permit system was transferred from the previous land manager to the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC). This system was transferred with the understanding that permits applied to the entire conservation lands, including the Lavis Lane carpark.

Following recent enforcement activities and subsequent concerns raised by visitors to the conservation lands, the DECC has decided to undertake a review of the requirement to display a beach vehicle permit when parked in the Lavis Lane carpark. In the interim, DECC officers have been advised not to issue beach vehicle permit reminder notices to vehicles parked in the carpark.

I hope this addresses your concerns. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email if you would like to discuss this matter further.

Regards
NPWS "

So as I have previously stated you are required to actually have a permit to park in the car park, but as there own information contradicts itself they are going to let it slide until they clarify things, then it will be enforced.

I have a phone number and a person I will be contacting tomorrow and if there is anything further to this I will let you all know.

This is a good example of what can be done if you pursue the right avenues and ask questions rather than fly off the handle. (something I am also guilty of)
good result,
Well done Glen, thank you. laughing

Well done fella's, a couple of calls to the right people and things are
looking better already. Hopefully a more formal representation from
our QUAD fraternity, working with the right govt. people can sort things
out for everyone at Stockton and preserve and develop it to be even
for the future.
Cheers Dean.

So how big is the area that you are allowed to ride in? Is there any dunes that you are allowed to ride on? I live about half an hour from the dunes and im getting my first quad soon with the intentions of riding up there. Is it still worth riding up there?

As far as the car park goes I have just gotten of the phone from NPWS and they will not be enforcing that your tow vehicle in the car park needs a permit, but please ensure your RVA and 4 x 4 have one if heading out to the beach or the RVA area.

I have registered my concerns regarding our RVA area and they will advise us of any future meetings and changes.
