I have just brought a new 2008 Banshee. I want to do a few mods to it and looking at what best. Mods would be different PIPES, AIR CLEANERS and some REEDS. What would be the best to get. Also would i benefit by putting on different carbies or just jet the standard ones to suit. I want to do some grass track racing. Any help would be much appreciated.

how much you wanna spend? the sky's the limit with banshees!

absolute bare necessity mods are:

Aftermarket Filter flange and filter (k&n or pro-design foam)
Pipes (FMF SST's or Toomey T5's are the go)
Milled Stock head (20-30thou)
Adjustable timing plate set to 4 degrees
Rejet stock carbs

that is what i would call "Stage 1". all that will (should) come in under $1500 fitted and tuned (retail)

it will really wake the engine up, adding power everywhere, (about 8-10hp all up). it will be easier to ride and more fun too, and you should beat stock 450s and 700 raptors in a drag.

Stage 2

Cool head with 19cc domes
V force 3 reeds
Keihin PWK 28 carbs
Pod Filters

this is where it starts costing money, about another $1500 retail. should add about another 5-7hp, mainly in the mid range and up top, it will lose a little bottom but you wont notice i dont reckon. throttle response will be alot better too with the Keihin carbs

Stage 3

Port Job
Keihin 33s or similar

the style of porting you have done will depend on what you want to do with the quad and where you want the power to be.

if your in the dunes, the right port job and a bigger set of carbs could easily add another 10hp, but it will lose bottom and some mid and gain alot up top, which will be trickier to ride.

does that help?

They are great pipes but have you ever used Paul Turnuer Mid-range or High Revs? Great pipe (Every second Banshee that raced in the Pont De Vaux before the 450's were around used them). Smile

Where do you buy the Paul Turner pipes from. How much are they compared to FMF and Toomey. Whats the difference betwenn Toomey T5s and T6s.

T6's are for standard engine t5's if you want to end up porting and moding the engine. I have an 08 Banshee and am currently doing the basic mods to it. V force 3 reeds, TR6 pipes, filter and jets. PM me if you want more tips and info.
