Can anybody offer me some advice on where to look for this ignition fault. I wired up a generic lanyard kill switch a couple of weeks ago to my Raptor and after a couple of rides the bike died and I haven't been able to start it since. It is now flashing fault code 33 on the dash which is "ignition fault". I have replaced the ignition coil and spark plug and checked all wiring connections for water and dirt. The starter turns over and the fuel pump runs but I still have no spark. All fuses and relays are also ok. I have an auto electrician running a volt meter over the bike tomorrow to check for wiring damage but I couldn't find anything visually today. Feedback from another forum points at a possible fault with the throttle positioning sensor or a fried ECU both of which are apparently common issues with this bike. If I can't figure this out for myself I am going to have to put the bike back into the shop again which can be mighty expensive up here. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

how did you wire up the kill switch Aaron? If you've used the wrong wire to the kill switch and to ground then you could have a toasted ECU...... _________________

Kill switch came with two wires, one black and one white. Wired the white to one post on the ignition coil and the black to the other. This seemed to work ok at first. Unfortunately there were no instructions with the kill switch and this seemed the most popular choice of installation on other forums. I was told not to ground the earth to the frame as usual as it could damage the coil. Compared to installing the Vapor computer, this should have been a piece of piss to do but it's got me stumped. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Spot on Pete. Plugged in another ECU this morning and she fired up straight away. I was hoping for a cheaper solution but at least I can replace the unit without having to put her in the shop. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |
