Guys I though the weekend was the best ( behind Kamfari) Just got a few questions may help Mick or we could drive him to have another drink. Razz

OK best dates for 3 rounds ?March May July? Wider apart? Closer

clashing with other bike events? can't please everybody? right or wrong?

Do we need a long weekend? if so what do we have off? Monday or Friday

Would you be prepared to buy or hire a transponder to make easier on the lap timers etc?

UTV are here How can we include them?

If a round is run in WA / NT / TAS are we as riders of those states prepared pay bit extra for organizer's to go in early? or do we a point a club and Mick fire the shots?

Do we need this event to be MA and have a Australian title?

Should we include other events for a points title? eg Finke Gascoyne dash Kamfari SA 12 hour Hattah? Not sure how this would work?

Anyway go crazy

This a public forum so keep it clean! Kamfari will aways have strippers!

Sorry I didn't know vjcrose had logged in on my computer. How do I change this to Huskygoat

I dunno really. Maybe 20 k loop instead of a 40 or something like that. One thing though is that us juniors would probably get in the way of the fast riders and gives them the s###s. Or maybe just do laps of the proluge track or something like that.

maybe something could be done within the teams class to even it up a little.
at the tp300, teams with 2 bikes only had to nudge tyres and they were off again, for them the average time in pit lane was about 15 seconds. as the second bike was allready fulled up rider ready to race.

also in the teams class were 2 riders sharing the one bike. which involved coming into the pits unplugging lanyard, getting off, fueling up, changing rider, re attach landyard and then start bike and off we go. average time in pit lane was around 1.5 minutes. when you consider fueling and switching riders every lap theres 5 rider changes and fueling that we loose 1 minute 15 sec per lap regardless of how well we ride.

over the course of the race thats over 6 minutes added to your time sheet for sharing the one bike.
when that 6 minutes makes the difference between 3rd and 4th place you may find a difficult situation arise.

I think a promoter would be mad to organize an event without public liability cover from MA these days. it wouldn't necessarily need a championship title attached to it however if you are running with an open permit and can get this endorsed by MA, why not?

Juniors would be a great addition, but they would have to run at separate times to seniors (MA ruling). I'm sure the "blaster" class could handle a full senior enduro loop for 3 hrs. I think the smaller capacity classes would struggle on the same track but perhaps an alternate track could be made for the 50 and 90/110s.

Transponders for sure. This is something I think every club and discipline should be working towards, why think when computers can do it for you and provide so much more information.

While it would be good to piggy back off existing events unless they used the same class/race format I think it would be difficult to bring them into the series... unless we could get them to modify the quad class to suit our intended format. It might just be easier to hire their tracks/properties at a different time.

as an example
Kamfari runs a
rookies class (1st timers)
under 501cc
Over 501
then overall
Kamfari is designed for utility quads so there is no catering for sports quads however sports quads are entered and have proved they can finish
Masters
has the age of rider classing
Nationals
modification or stock class
some bike races have
Veterans
Pros

so perhaps in the utility class Dependant upon numbers could have under 500cc and over 501cc

Can I volunteer for the IRS gumby class?

If it takes a team running 1 bike 90 seconds to change over is it possible for the teams running 1 bike to get a 45 second change over allowance?

I dunno about the rest of them but I dont think I would make it. How bout the juniors and the utility on the same shorter track at the same time. That would probably be about even.

Can't have juniors and seniors on the track at the same time. MA rules.
Keep it coming guy's.
We need at least 3 days to run the events properly.
Could we just pick a free weekend, then get everyone to take a day off to make up the other, rather than restricting ourselves to the few mid-year national long weekends?

Would love to have a utility class , and maybe even run it in teams if people wanted to , i know it is hard pushing those big mothers around the cicruit with standard shocks and so forth ,,, they dont have all the good gear on them like the renegades , most dont.

Just a bit of a thought thats all,

just agreeing with Mick - you cant have junior and seniors racing together on the same track at the same time.- MA rules.

I personally think the Enduro events are sure to grow since the thump pump had such a roaring success.

However I think one thing you need to think about seriuosly is all the dates.

I know my family would love to come to these event however we need to seriously get together to organise a calendar.
March long weekend has been for the last couple of years the Event held up in Canberra by the QRCV which is now called the Tri State Series. If we can all pool together so as not to clash then the sport can only grow by everybody attending everything they wish and not by clashing and having to chose one over the other.
I would like to think that the anzac weekend would also be known for the thump pump 300 for future years.

Hope this makes sense. I know it is hard to keep everyone happy with the racing - believe me I have done my best in the past and there is always something that clashes but i feel if we can all come to an understanidig it would make life easier.

Cheers

Agree with all that Trud, only problem is that Anzac day does not always fall on a friday or monday. We just got lucky this year. The only info we can see at this stage is for NSW, and they are saying the public holiday will be on the Saturday. Plus I would like to make the TP300 at least 2 weeks before Kamfari next year.

My appologies Mick - didnt realise.
Calendars are one hard thing to deal with trying to remember all the public hols, school hols, easter etc. They just keep changing everything !!!!!!

and also sorry for writing Thump instead of Thumb eek - think I will stick to writing TP300 . ( thanks CCR - he he he )
Cheers

The March weekend is the Robinvale Euston Ski Race not that it would worry any of you though. I don't know what I would come to. Hrm Confused It would be better if the weekend had of been the 10th and 11th and then on the 11th we could have chucked me a big b-day party Razz

I think to run the current format I believe Friday is the go. That means more racing and more classes Sat , sun . take Friday off work . And those of us who travel interstate it does n't matter so much just a extra day.

Has any one given Razors and Rhinos any though? Maybe 3 x 1 hour races + prologue. Juniors maybe the same? Is this to much ? not enough ?

Vic enduros are now running transponders

Would it be possible to run 3 rounds but only points from 2 rounds count? Drop your worst round or if funds don't permit you are not completely buggered for missing a round. Just an idea for the first few years, maybe until more sponsors come onboard or something and the turnout of riders is more consistent. Smile

Remember since Anzac day is on Sat next year you will not be able to run anything before midday I think that is law. No sport before Midday

I'd be into buying a transponder, as would most people if it was going to be a regular thing.

junior enduro would need to be way shorter, those little 2T quads aren't well known for their longevity and likey on a different track (they do that for the Vic offroad series)

It doesn't need to be on a long weekend, aside from Finke the TP300 is the only 2dayer I've been to that was on a long weekend, the bike guys get a whole heap more to their enduros and manage to do it over 2 days instead of 3......

I'd still really like to see a night section and or more possibly a session that runs into the night ( as in start in daylight finish in the dark).

there needs to be an official outright result as well as class results too

Motorcycling Vic have made all Juniors - not sure about Seniors - who are riding in the Victorian Championships ( 2 wheelers) purchase transponders. There is a guy on their website that handles the whole process and you can even hire them. They are trying to make them compulsary in the future and the Gippsland regions will be introducing the most probably next year as well.
Might worth a call to this guy to see costs etc. Ive heard he is very approachable.
cheers
Trud
