I think most people maintain the standard length swingarm on a banshee for mx. how come you want to extend it? _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

I think Banshees are a bit heavy in the front, so they respond to +1 forward A-arms really well (improves weight distribution).
This should suggest that adding a longer rear swing arm would make the situation even worse.
Well maybe worse for MX etc.
I'd think a long swinger would only be good for drags and hill climbs.
just my guess though. _________________ Can-Am X Team

From a banshee rider (or one who owns one) I would really agree with Bullet in regards to getting the most out of the front end, getting that set to handle would be first priority.
Just my 2cents worth.
Cheers Deano. |

its abit hard having a 421 for duning and mx
for mx\trails -1 to -3 are used, duning with that motor like a +4
the 2 dont go together usually _________________ banshee

I ran a standard length lonestar swinger in my bansh with +2+1 a-arms and it handled pretty good (for a banshee).
Are you having trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground in the dunes? Lengthened swing arms would benefit straight line dragging but I wouldn't think it would improve handling for general dune riding/trails. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

A stock Banshee will spin the rear wheels just about anywhere,
And people do it all the time without too much trouble.
If you've got 80rwkw you'll just spin harder for longer.
80rwkw will not change your traction at all, so in an off road environment, expect a lot of spinning.
A longer rear swing arm will mean more of the bikes weight will be proportioned to the front end, and even more wheel spin.
The guys that run long swingers are also running lots of traction in what ever their purpose.
I'd agree with Holeshot 24... I can't see it making for good handling out in the dunes.
Down the beach with paddles like Ash has got... will be a different story.
Either way you're going to have a very fun quad _________________ Can-Am X Team

I would stay standard or plus 2 for duning ,half the fun is wheelstanding, dont worry what tyres you are running it will want to point skyward ,no offence but nearlly all the riders on this site have never ridden a bike with 70hp let alone 80+.
I run a plus 4 on mine with 300hp and its a blast ,on my banshee 421 I run a plus 4 for duning but I AM ALSO VERY HEAVY my advise is to start standard. and have a ride on jimmys 421 he has a plus 4 on drag days. _________________ OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed".......OH "profanity removed" I SAID "profanity removed" |

Hi Tuff AS, out of interest how much did you pay for your 421 and is it a powervalve cylinder or standard. I find when I ran sand tyres on the front of my Banshee the steering is very light but I only ride in the dunes anyway. I thought you orded some HDUSA Suspension for the front end if you did how is it. Mate half the fun is trying to put that much horspower through the Banshee with the short chassis and swingarm it has. FUN FUN FUN.
