First up. I don't want this to turn into some big load of crap argument about mine is better than yours. So now what does everyone think what is better say for someone who is going to mostly trailride and might do the occasional enduro or moto-x. NOT some hard core racer where the 450 is going to be definantly better.
Just post your pro's & con's of what you think of each and we will see what it turns out to be at the end. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Go a 660 or 700, more ground clearance for trailriding and more comfortable...IMOA
You'd get a 660 for $3000 to $5500 if you look around enough |

Both the Honda & Suzuki 400s were built as trail quads, they are really user friendly, low maintenance & good at what they were designed for but they do have thier limitations, kinda depends what you want out of them. One plus is that they've been around so long there are hundreds of hop up parts available but they'll never compete head to head with the 450s no matter how much $$$ you throw at them.
Having said that,
I love my ex & wouldn,t swap it for quids, but the Z400 is a better deal out of the box.
cheers.... _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

So it sounds like the 400 is on top at the moment. I am just starting to look around more at bigger bikes. Probably wont get one for a few years still but it don't hurt to look. The article in the latest ATV Action sounds pretty good about the new 400ex and the issue before it has a good thing on the ltz 400. They still sound like an alright bike. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

well having NOT either bike, so that kinda makes me an expert you need to think about spending your bucks after the bike is home in the shed, maintance, bits and peices here and there, go and check out your local suzi and yammie dealers and fin the cost of bits and piece that wear out and have that regular habit of breaking, then go from there, I'm sure the blokes here will put a list of parts they have had to replace in the last 12 months they hadnt expected to replace, then make your descion from that infomation.
and then go and buy the KAWASAKI _________________ 2005 KFX700

If you are reading this and you are thinking a 400 might be for you I would suggest the Honda TRX 400EX
Put a sports pipe and some wheel spacers on the back and give it hell
Some taller handle bars and nurfs if you want to, but a great bike. Maintenance is fairly moderate, just change the oil and clean the airfilter every five or six tanks of fuel (10 hours riding) and it will serve you well.
Things like bearings, valve clearances etc should be done at the workshop where you will be taking it every 50 hours, won't you! _________________ Cheers,
