hi all i need some expert reccomendations on some wheels for the ktm525 for mx setup
front rim size?
rear rim size?
front wheel size?
rear wheel size?
-i race hard pack/ sand mx i would prefer maxxis tyres so i also need reccomendation for tyre type
- next if i go down in wheel size from the original tyres on the 525 will i have to alter gearing?, what sort of effect does tyre size have on engine performance i.e will the bike rev more, loose top end ect
im currently running 932 20x11-9 rear, 931 21x7-10 front im aware that these tyres are to tall for mx however if i drop down 2" in height then i also loose 1" in width whats more important width or height? _________________ "IF YOU DONT BREAK IT YOUR NOT GOING HARD ENOUGH" |

your only gonna lose width through the tyre surface so it shouldn't ba a concern, I'd say the height is more important for Hard Pack and than for sand. you may find your self needing to go back to the 21/20 inch tyres for a proper deep sand track.
Putting smaller tyres on is effectively gearing it down. The general rule is to go to 18 Inch tyres on the rear, going up 1 tooth on the front sprocket is generally accepted as a match for the change in tyre size. _________________
