he has quoted 850 to 900 kg tare weight i thought same but then on closer look most of it is small to light tubes

and rest that is to go on trailer is all aluminium cept for axle and springs, coupling and brakes

With that much framework you could probably get away with coating the thing in ALFOIL

Quad i wasnt meaning anything bad by a home built trailer what i was meaning was that the builder should have a pretty close idea to what trailer will come in at as they build them for a living this is reply i got from email to them to day

Quote:
Hi brad that’s the std amount of steel we use.

Don’t forget the floors in alloy and the panels.

This trailer is fine towed behind a ford or Holden 6 cyl.

And it will only weigh around 850-900 kgs .

Regards Andy.

Well OZ I think your going to have 1 mighty fine looking trailer there
If I read the builders email right the side walls are going to be alloy as well as the floor not colorbond sheet as you have stated
Either way I don’t think its going to make much difference (they will how ever need more side bracing to support the wall sheet other wise when it heats up in the sun the side walls will buckle and kink)
Every one is having a dig at the amount of steel used ---- well I think you all should keep in mind that almost every piece used so far looks to be only 1.6mm gauge RHS
Judging by the amount of steel in the floor I would assume they are only going to use 2mm alloy floor (light weight)
As for being 900kg I don’t know if that would be true but it shouldn’t be far off

I like the pop top roof idea ------ should be nice when finished ----- are you going to sign write it?
