EVERYONE . have your say to this topic and add any info you think is important. YEAH.. 4wds using the ATV entry and exit, and driving in the ATV designated area is asking for trouble. honestly i cant count how many times ive come head on with a 4b while entering or exiting because some idiots bogged and bloking the 4wd access track so they use the ATV track.

A mate and me were stuck at the top of the atv access track for 15-20mins the other weekend cause raymond terrace 4wd club were using the track for access to the beach simply because its easier to get onto the beach. Now if we were to use their access track you can put money on it that national parks would be straight onto it. I agree that we could do with a little bit more area to ride in, i've written before that after a couple of hours riding it gets boring. But i'm thinking this maybe their plan if we get bored with the area that we have there'll be less and less of us riding up there.

Good topic Muzzle.
If we can get everyones ideas on improvements for Stockton we can present them to the NPWS.
Remember that the NPWS read this forum, so keep your suggestions clean & we may have a chance of being heard.

A mate told me that theyre thinking of RE_ZONING the beach area again. and on completion will stay that way for 10 years... Surprised Surprised Surprised IF anyone knows this to be true, could you post it up with any factual infomation. WE need to know , cause if this proposal is truu & we"re kept in the dark, we ll end up missing out on just a little bit more.

I agree with more area open for ATVs.North to Tin city would be nice.
As for entry and exit to the beach,I think they should make it one way entry/exit and for all to use.
If everyone takes care, there shouldn't be a problem of ATVs and 4WDs in same area.
From my post you can tell that I drive both and I know that there is lot of people who drive their 4wd and ATVs on the beach

We need more beach access, but restricted km areas along the beach front is fair for all.
We need some flat dune access towards the signa to squirt along without knowing a 4x4 can clean us up..
We certainly need more big dune access, no 4wd's can go into the big dunes anyway (not the muliple storey sizes), if they want to post and fence the areas and provide speed areas, oh well. At least all will be clear for all of us.
We need more signs around the area to let newcombers know where to get registration from and signs to say where to get 4x4 access from and how much etc and what fines are in place if they do not..

Maybe on the access points they can use zones as for what type of vehicle is allowed into what area and place those coloured signs in the area so people know where to go.

If were all going to pay, we need more guidelines and fairness.

For the amount of money that is expected, they should put in toilets and barbecue areas so people can really enjoy the area...

If they start doing things like this, we can all enjoy the place together and the local government can enjoy the added people into the area...

If people can enjoy, they can go the to the areas where quads are allowed and watch the bikes safely as well... especially like days organised for drags etc

Excuses like unexploded ordinance or cultural this and that will be used to keep people out of the hills. I believe they just don't want anyone there to witness the disaster about to unfold as the result of sand extraction.

Yeah Muz I agree, the area they have set aside is abit of a joke Rolling Eyes there's no hills that are real challenging and most of the 4wd's that go on the beach head straight to the Sygna through the ATV ride area.

Maybe we should go up there at night and move them stupid yellow poles an extra 5km up the beach laughing no one would notice laughing Razz .......

I never said they care, I said they would use it as excuse to keep people out while they do their vandalising. I'd rather the sand stays right where it is or do what it has done for the last few thousand years.

I agree with what people have said moving the boundry to the tin huts would give us the big dunes that we like to ride on, but the damage to cultural sites is why we ar'nt allowed even though any quad tracks are gone the next day unlike 4wd trying to get up them & leaving them with deep ruts & chewed up to the "profanity removed" house but thats ok. what about the fact that we have the biggest sand hills in the southern hemisphere its ok to mine them & sell beachs to countries that dont have beachs but we AUSTRALIAN'S cant even ride on the sand before its sold.
If nothing changes in the area boundry moving it north then why not let us ride up & down pagies hill & the other 4 or 5 tracks that go up the side of the hill right behind the excisting RVA area, we know we carnt ride in the bassin any more so put up a fence were the boundry is for toll sands & then another fence or sign posts ( cheaper) so that we can see were we have to turn around & go back down the hill again as this is what we wont to do not ride around on flat sand we can do that now. there is excisting tracks in that area no new tracks are needed. I car'nt think of a better place to fine people if they go out of bounds just sit there & right there plates down. I spoke to two rangers & they both said that they wont to hear the publics ideas & suggestions well lets see how much they listen to what we have said & how well they advertise the next public meeting, there will be a small metion in the examiner nothing in the heral or sydney papers thats how much they wont to listen.

i agree that the area we have been given has just become more dangerous for atv riders as its pushing us into a smaller area full of 4x4's
during easter break i was up for a few days and a 4x4 flipped over on its side 50 meters away from where there were about 20 people riding those rent a quads could have killed a tourist there
we need to extendthe riding area towards tin city in the big dunes for our own safety and fun
and if they let us into those big dunes maybe people wouldnt sneak up pages as much or be tempted to go into then bowl
the 4x4 dont go into the big dunes towards tin city anyway so there would be a lot less confrontation between atv's and 4x4's
the NPWS should really consider at looking at our plea
so to all you NPWS people reading this forum ...you know we are right so please sonsider this at your next meeting
cheers

ride to water line.
and procede to ATV riding area.
adhearing to safety and speed limits....
I think so....though anyone caught doing DUMB SH#T could be FINED ON THE SPOT ...... fair is fair...
something else to think about...

I here that the NPWS is managing the land for the worimi's so why carnt they make the decision to extend the rva north to the huts & get us away from dopy 4wd owners. we all dont wont to ride big hills just sum of us, its not every quad trike bike rider on the beach will be up there, come on NPWS u said to me that you read this site open the hills to rva vehicals only & fine the 4wd's like you do to us, there's heaps more of them but you would be to scared to try that wouldnt you.

Instead of going against 4wdrivers, we should join them.
As mantioned there is lot more of them and atv riders voice could be heard through 4wdrivers.
think outside the box

If the NPWS are reading this... Keep reading.
I live in Adelaide and am a member of QRSA (Quad Riders SA).
We have often thought of doing a Stockton Beach trip and if it worked we might make it a regular annual thing.
Logistically it's a bit of a nightmare to get a dozen or more South Aussies and their quads over your way, but we do stuff like that.
Thing is we would have done it by now if you could sort your sh1t out.
Your region is loosing a dam site more tourism than you could imagine mainly because you can't get it together.
Have a think how far people would come from... I've been to Lancelin twice, spent lot's of money, rode the same ground each day (and our tracks blew over each night).
Money for jam if your smart.
Employ a few full time piece keepers on quads (everyone understands you'll need to because there are allways idiots out there) POSITIVELY promote and advertise the place, welcoming tourists from all over Australia.
Hell, whip up a web site and offer some co-ordination services and recommend guides etc.

Or just keep changing the rules and introducing new controversy and bureaucratic processes and keep going backwards. No-one could ever responsibly plan a big expensive Stockton visit, and you are far more likely to get the whiz through the back door idiots ONLY.
The way has been conducted in recent years, no-one is winning and your still getting the odd idiots wrecking the place anyway.
In SA our responsible quad club polices the properties we ride at while under MA insurance (job done for ya).

Then I spose one day, all humans will be banned from earth and you've won.
Keep up the good fight.

hmmm
I think I better go find a psychotherapist first thing tomorrow eek

Went up tu the dune today and the place was cut up so bad it was ridiculouse. The RVA { imaginary quad area } area had more 4WD drive tracks than youd find at a Tuff Trucks weekend.!!!..
And to top it off 3 of my mates had a REAL CLOSE CALL with a 4WD coming over a dune at them.
THINGS HAVE TO CHANGE. BEFORE SOMONE GETS HURT.
Honestly , after seeing all the 4WDs carving up every hill and hump they could find i dont understand why THEY want to tuck all the riders into one small area thats ALSO full of 4wds.
dont get me wrong. i dont dislike 4wds, i own one and enjoy using it.
But if you put a lot of people in a small space, you know wht the outcome will be. Then who will be to blame.....?. the drivers OR the people who put them there??? OPEN UP THE DUNE... more space= less chance of collisions. = NO DEAD PEOPLE.
