hey guys just was after some help if possible?? looking at buying a polaris predator 2003 500cc, was just wondering what people thought of this bike, any feed back would be great, just going to be using it as a social weekend toy etc etc... words of wisdom on power, handeling, and reliability would be great, thanks all.

I'll second that. Have had a 2004 for about 2 years. The wife has just claimed it. The thing is bullet proof. Piped & jetted they go well. Fine tune the fox shocks & the handling is good as well.
If you're looking at royboy's you can't go wrong.

Hi there, well there a great bike!!! haha i would say that but seriously they are.
The 03 had a few problems the gearbox and the frame.
The gearbox was weak on the 03 and had a few problems with missing gears and dog ears breaking off, My gear box has been full rebuilt and the upgrade kit has been put in, new gear cogs and bigger stronger shift forks, $2500 worth
The fame used to crack under the petrol tank on the longest span off the frame, i braced it and got rewelded so thats all good now
apart from that they are great bikes, great for trails and the beach and have enough power for most things. my mate has a 06 honda 450 and it can keep up with that.
if you go to predatorowners.com it tells you every thing you need to know.
you can do a seach on 03 problems or anything you like
hope this helps and even if you dont buy mine id still recommend the pred as a good all round weekend toy

I have owned an 04 for years and has been reliable . rolled it, fliped it and mid air baral rolled it, apart from the odd damaged rims and bent handle bars almost indistructable.

Power, most 03 probly have already had the air box and exaust modified + nerfs so not prob there.

I trailride, have done MX and Flat track with mine all for fun of cource so they are a good alrounder.

we do a lot of frame repairs up here and the ONLY polaris was a pred to come in had a few cracks after placing in top 10 quads at FINKE and they can be a force to reckon with on the track - depending upon jockey of course.

I wear polaris knickers cause over the 10 yrs I have owned nearly the whole range at one point or another and have found parts availabilty good and really only minor problems other than self inflicted stuff. pred owners is good for the heads up on any issues and how to fix them before they happen.
