Yep they have had it in Melbourne for a while.....V Power Racing.

There is a but........I think it's got a high Ethenol content and just like Optimax the bike guys don't recomend it.

I haven't got the full scoop on it yet but if it's like Optimax the internals like injectors and lines dont last long with the stuff.

As Linc said, we've had it in Melbourne for a while. its got a 5% ethanol content which gives it the extra octane.

the other ethanol fuels available have a 10% content, like the United Plus fuel.

i remember reading a story in the papers about shell processing plant for vpower broke down so i'm guessing thats why there's a shortage and bp seem to be cashing in on it and adding more cents to ultimate.

We have BP ultimate down here, not sure of the whole content though.

Are we ever sure exactly what goes in the tank?

BP ultimate is 98oct. Thats why you're are better getting your fuel off the high turn over servo's that way you know your getting the fuel as fresh as possible.

I believe that V-Power Racing is just the old Optimax with an ethanol blend.

Ethanol burns cleaner than normal fuel but it also flashes off very fast

The old Optimax fuel was crap in carbed bikes especially when coupled with FCR carbs and was very hard to jet around usually resulting in fouled plugs.
It was designed for fuel injected cars (high pressure) rather than grav fed venturi draw carbs.

BP98 (ultimate) is good stuff. myself and a few others run this in our banshees with 19cc domes and advanced timing, with no signs of detonation
