So what constitutes the term "Banshee motor"?
Is it a 350cc 2 stroke 2 cylinder built by Yamaha?
Is it a motor built on a banshee crankcase?
Is it a motor fitted to a banshee frame?
Does it even have to be a 2 stroke?
In fact, what constitutes the term "banshee"
Is it still a banshee when the only original part left is the frame & seat?
What about when they even start to modify the frame & change the seat?
Does it need to have a Yamaha part on it to be called a Banshee?
Some of the ones you see in Dirt Wheels don't look much like the thing I own.
Where do you draw the line, or do you draw it at all?

How about if you run the 3 cylinder 2 stroke 750cc Kawasaki motor? Is it then a KFX?

http://www2.yamaha-motor.fr/actu/IMG/jpg/05_ym50_doc-17-TZ750.jpg

yamaha tz750

they are really 700cc... 4 cylinder. its pretty much 2 rz350 (read banshee) motors bolted together!

Last time I saw one of those waterbuckets, as they were called, was when I had a memmory & I can't remember that far back.
I suppose they were all written off.
They were pretty popular in sidecars for speedway in their day.

4 stroker- the yamaha TZ 700/750 engine top end is 2 x TZ race engine barrells & pistons ( can also use 2x TZ250= 500cc or as a lot of jnr sidecar racers did use 1x350 & 1x250 top end to make 600cc ) the entire bottom end is pure TZ and very expensive the RD LC / RZ road bike engines are a derrivative and highly detuned version of the TZ250/350 so very few parts from the RD/RZ range actually cross over to the TZ and give reliable service.

yeah i know, pretty wild that they use two different size pistons in some engines, you would think it would throw the balance right off!

4 stroker - yeah it did cause engines to run a little rough but in most cases they didn`t even rejet the carbs for the 250 barrells just whacked them on ( sometimes between heats ), as crank / piston life was VERY short anyway it was never even a consideration, ahhhhh!!!!!!!! those were the days real purpose built race engines how I dream!!!!!!!!, oh well back to reality!!!!!!!!!!.

Wouldnt thins be like when cars get built and people put V8's in them, everyone seems to call those cars by what they started with. I reckon if you start with a banshee at the beginning of the build then it's a banshee. Smile
