Well I went down the shed to find out what damage I he caused last Sunday, 3 hours latter I have stripped it down to the frame.
Thought I may as well do a full resto on the old girl and now is as good a time as any.
What have I got myself into? think I'd better get a fridge for the shed.
Before Pics.

Anyone got any hints as to how the bloody hell this swing arm bolt comes out?
I've tried the rattle gun, sledge hammer, lube and it wont budge.

Penetrene Oil, I have a couple of bottles if you want some.
Apart from that, oxy or 9 inch death adder. |

Ive now been through this many times Paul the bearings and bushes are rusted to the bolt, save yourself some time and anxiety order a new bolt and hacksaw it off between the frame and the outer dust cap on both sides which will get the swingarm out. _________________ 1989 TRX 250R |

Thats the same problem our mate Anthony had and he ended up cutting his swingarm bolt out like Tony said.
It would probably be a good idea to get your hands on one of these bolts before you chop it up ,they might be one of those hard to get parts that are becoming hard to get ..... _________________ If a Quad is a Quad Bike,

Taking Aussie's advise after trying oldrodders, and about 6 hacksaw blades in Jase's air chisel and the same amount of time it takes to watch neighbours I got the swinging arm out, BUT! I still don't know how I'm going to get the rest of the bolt out of the swing arm and rear engine mount.
Anyone have a press?

HOT TIP! wish i listened as i'm going through the same thing as big bro!
Standard bolt is hollow. Weld up both ends, tap thread in one end for grease nipple. Cross drill small holes at bearing points ( and bit in middle by the look of it). Now you have a fully greasable bearing system that can be serviced so it just dont rust and seize up in the first place. PLUS it should keep bearings smik longer and keep your rear end nice and smooth!
(sounds like getting your bum waxed ) _________________

| Snyder motorsports on ebay makes re-greasable stainless bolts. the 400ex is cheaper than the 250r for some reason, but i think there interchangable. cost around $70-$80 shipped.. |

If I start belting it it will more than likely crack the swingarm like Ant & Bretts. |

Ok, operation "remove this swing arm bolt".
Jase took me into his work today to try and extract the swing arm bolt.
1st Jase tried heating it up and bashing it out.
But she would not budge, I think they must bend slightly and jam.
So it was back to the grinder to cut the engine mount out.
Then a bit more heat and the rest tapped out easy.

What a mission there was no way you were ever going to get that done in you shed at home.
Did you get the old bearings out of the swingarm aswell ?
I reckon you blokes could give the mythbusters a run for their money with all them oxy torches and grinders and stuff . _________________ If a Quad is a Quad Bike,

Maybe your safety apparel was questionable but at least there is a sign on the wall warning of the dangers of smoking oxygen! _________________

Today's progress.
Split bottom end to install new crank and all bearings and seals.
The reason for the rebuild in the first place was a flogged out big end bearing. It worked out only $20 more to replace the whole crank than just buying a new connecting rod.
Dropped swing arm over to Ash for him to zip up some minor cracks.
Before pics of items that will be going to powder coaters tomorrow.
