all you two stroke haters might find this interesting!

what is the most efficient naturally aspirated 4 stroke you can think of? probably formula 1.. unrestricted they make 1000hp at 3.0 litre capacity...

that is 333.333hp per litre...

what does a good 250cc 2 stroke GP bike make? just shy of 100hp...

thats 400hp per litre!!!

2 strokes rule!

yes but reliability is also a facter that you havent allowed for.
my wifes skyline is 2.5 ltrs and makes over 500hp all day every day.
to get a carby v8 to do that would need to be twice the weight and size.

seeing as 2 strokes have twice as many compression/power strokes shouldnt they have nearly twice as much power?
not very efficient at converting fuel into hp i guess.

Mate my racing days are long gone. Spent a fortune racing Karts for 10 yrs. That was real racing, where you had to extract the speed from chassis setup, engine & exhaust tuning, precision driving & the size of your balls! All this while adhering to strict rules on engine/exhaust mods plus control tyres. No "buying horsepower" to win.

Yeah I love watching drag racing too but this has turned into a free for all where he who has the most coin to waste will win. Some organised racing with rules regarding mods and varied classes would make it more interesting plus cater for all budgets.

!!!QUAD DRAG RACING RULE BOOK!!!
if yous think of any more rules add them

rules like?
350cc 2 stroke vs 700 4 stroke

1. the class's should be 2 stroke vs 4 stroke with 100% more cc's

2. road bike powered quad turbo on non turbo vs road bike powered quad turbo on non turbo

than that will be interesting!

yeah some rules would be cool

have a heap of different classes, just derive whatever rules they use in the states for sand drag racing and adapt them to suit aus.

then have an open class where anyone compete (so we can still see the banshee vs busa battles Smile)

any form of power adder (turbo, super charger nitrous etc) should multiply the quads engine capacity by 2.

for example, a turbo 700 raptor wouldnt be fair against a naturally aspirated 700 raptor, so the N/A raptor would be allowed to have a 1400cc engine (road bike)

has anyone from the big red fan club got video footage of big red, or the comanchee or any other fast 2 stroke?

cause looking at the vids you guys have put up big red isnt anything to get horny about. when ash opens the throttle it stands up and throws massive amounts of sand and then flys past anyone next to him.
when big red opens it up it makes noise and dosent do much.
i was a little dissapointed actually as to the lack of grunt shwown in those vids by big red. all the talk at the start and then it just didnt deliver.

watching ash overtake big red on the back wheels while its skwirming around for traction is what i call a fast bike.
riding my bike at 150kph along a gravel driveway go over a slight rise and the front end stands right up on you for the next few hundred metres.
thats pure grunt, i cant see a 2 stroke doing this without melting.

i like 2 strokes for what they are dont get me wrong, but compared to ash and my bike, dont bother.

add to that a complete rd bike engine thats done less the 5000klm can be had for under $3k they are good for around 30,000klm reliability wise thats the end of the story.

budget build sand drager for less then $8k that will whop 98% of other quads there.

why do the 2 strokes bother?

if your concerned about weight build a custom frame out of aluminium, light weight everything as it wouldnt be jumping etc, and then stick some massive paddles on it. the possibilitys are huge.

i only built mine for riding around a 100,000 acre station i have access too
not to prove anything to anyone. how was i to know ash would copy me .

so ash has to race in the over 2.5 ltr class, giving me the win. nice....

what if someone stuffed a 2.5ltr mercury drag racing outboard into a quad, or a TZ750 engine with 4 yz250 top ends on it ( 1 ltr, 240hp...)

or a triple cylinder snowmobile engine?

how BORING would it be if everyone stuck (4 stroke) road bike motors into drag quads like your suggesting?

i agree with you 4stroker snowmoblie powered quads all the way! just be a problem cooling it because most snowmobile's are air cooled but they have massive hp!

i thought most of the modern ones were liquid cooled and ran the water through a heat exchanger that rode on the snow, just like a jet ski...

thats how the ski-doo (rotax) ones do it anyway, not hard to convert it to a radiator

haha good question!

when i was much younger i had an xr250 and signed up to dirtbikeworld.net as 4stroker...

have joined alot of forums since then and found it much easier to keep the same username, otherwise i forget em!

i have since been converted to the mighty 2 stroke by the legendary cr500 and now the banshee!

nah 4stroker most of the rotax powered snowmobile's are air cooled reason for that is because they are mainly only riden in frezzing conditions!

some of the older, smaller entry model ski doos are air cooled, but im talking about the high performance, 600-800cc models, which are liquid cooled
