OK some of you quadriders must have had this before. I need help with my wife. You see, the Forsayth Quad Rally is on next month & to us up in NQ it is the best weekend of the year. My problem is that my wifes parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on the same weekend.
She is shitty as hell about the boys & I going to Forsayth & not this cellebration.
She just doesn't get it. How do I win her over & convince her I have to go to Forsayth?
I told her it is my duty to ensure my sons are raised with respect for their elders & that no child could possibly be expected to respect a father that didn't take them to Forsayth. She wouldn't cop that even though I know it is true.
What else can I try?

Peter

perhaps take the inlaws/you/wife and kids out for tea the weekend before and you pay for all of it (hire a limo to pick everyone up to)?? Very Happy

I like your style. Suck up eh. It might work. I'll give it a go.
Any other suggestions out there?

Ok
we've gone over the actual laws in the various states of Australia in a previous post like this.

So assuming NQ is the same as SA, and you're wife must live...
It looks like you're going to have to resort to the 'sucking up'.

I just asked MrsBullet expecting it would be a good laugh to use your argument to get me into trouble...
It didn't work.
MrsBullet is backing you. She says she can't understand how your wife would not support you.
(that's honestly what she said)
and then she broke into this brilliant suggestion.....

Don't ask your wife.
Ask you inlaws directly and explain the significance to them and the kids excitement.

Now that is brilliant.
These 'women' are definitely the smarter sex hey.
you've just gotta be smart enough to use them against each other.

Goodluck with the inlaws Peter, I hope they come along to watch Forsayth.

just remember the golden rule:

It is easier to seek forgiveness than it is to get permission.

works for me when I want to get a new bike.
having said that I pretty much just get to do what I want anyway when it comes to going riding and to races as long as I've got her quad sorted out when she want to ride it's all good.

Getting the missus a quad is definitely 1 way of making quad riding more important. Best move I ever made. She now bugs me to go riding laughing Cool

Hey its not your anniversary so why should you care anyway. Just go riding like I would and sort it out later, she'll get over it!!

She's come around fellas.
The boys & I formed a bit of a war cabinet & had a bit of a discussion about tactics. We decided to work from the top down. The boys dropped hints to Grandma about how important it is for them to go. It's a tradition you know. Worked a treat. We got off the hook with the Motherinlaw first & the wife was a pushover.
I never thought my motherinlaw would be easier to work with than my wife.
Thanks for your help fellas.
It gave me inspiration.
If I couldn't get permission Pete, I was gonna use the golden rule.
