Any ideas as to how to protect my plastics? Is there any prep which will help prevent scratches etc.....

on the back part of your gaurds were your legs/boots rub i have put thhe same color sticker (the sticker stuff you get for number plate back grounds )over the plastics and when it rubs through i take it off and replace..

Clear number plate back ground or coloured in the major impact areas and silicone spray before it gets dirty...

Wear those boots that only just come past your ankles..not really a fix more like a cure.
$30 any moto shop its like 1mm thick platic clear contact

oh feral what a bad way to learn a lesson. YOu can get a insulation wrap for the exhaust to make it a little safer however boots are the way to go... I rode my outlaw in a skirt and heels and the exhaust burnt 2" by 1" wide in my calf... eek never again
