So that makes it approx. 6 meters total including drawbar?
How much do they weigh?

$8k, that's not bad at all.
Tilt roof isn't standard? I would definitely get the tilt/pop up roof.

Mine is 4400 X 2050 X 1400 internal.

Hey guys
we build "Smokin' Trailers" and I thought I would share some points to look at when buying trailers

suspension is real important! if single axle you want eye to eye shackle springs as the slippers do not like dirt roads to much
if tandem go rocker roller - these distribute the weight rather than have one set taking the weight when unevenly packed. if you can spring for rocker rollers t hen just go rocker spring these still distribute the weight evenly but can invert if not installed properly under some conditions.
Also be careful of your weight rating - you don't want 3000kg springs on a 650kg trailer because the springs won't absorb any vibration and will shake the crap out of your gear. Like wise you don't want the reverse - 600kg springs with 2000kg weight on top...

and be wary of the paint job - a $50 paint and a $1500 paint job may look the same to the untrained eye when they are just done however in 6 months they will not. If you skimp on the paint expense at the start you may find in the long run it costs you in resale value etc

Axles - if you are going for large 4x4 tyres - go for a heavier axle as the larger wheels impact on the leverage factor...

when designing your trailer - take the time to look around, talk to people at the track about their trailers, look at your gear and work out what will work for you. Also think about the height of your car and how much liquid gold it will need to tow your new trailer...

just a couple we have made

this has a fold down table on the other side - 2 front access doors and top locker, pop top roof and ramp at the rear

We built this one to go to Hattah - 7400km round trip - she had 2 quads and 3 bikes and that front ali cabinet was chockers with spares and gear. she towed like a dream and we were able to do around 130km/hr in our tarago to the SA boarder with no problems and the fuel economy was really good considering. We had a tarp made for it to protect our gear Then when we got there the kids played in the dry trailer while we rode in the rain Rolls eyes
this one was for heavy duty 4x4 going

Basically if you can dream it up a good tradesman should be able to fabricate it - we have done sinks, water tanks, tyre racks, tables, workbenches, airconditioned - all sorts...

my best advice is to 1. ask heaps of questions 2. plan 3. research

I am happy to answer any questions...

hi vjcrose

i prob could take time to build one just i dont have the time hence why i am buying one

looking on the lool kart sirt they seem pretty good and on ebay there is a few selling them and i have messaged them and they hold em in high regard onlky selling due to no longer req also after looking round for one i found for 8k its cheaper to get a new one then buy a 2nd hand on on ebay similar is asking $10000 to 14000

also draw back with rocker springs can be 1 more expencive to repair , 2 if ya get a flat and no spare ya toasted as slippers ya can remove rear tyres from rear axle and get there with front or vice versa just want 2 engineers not from kool trailers but elsewhere have said

but thanx for advice and will let all know when if and when get it how it goes

Another good suspension type is the symonds knee suspension. It is independent so make for an extremely smooth ride. More expensive but would save money in the long run. We have these on our 3.5 tonne vans and they work great. Have just put a set on our new cool room. I believe coromal caravans use them and can get them from Melbourne Caravan and trailer place.

well it should be easy to match the colorbond color if you need too.
