Yes it is legal as the distance between the whelbase does not exceed ADR, the second trailer is removable and has a drawbar that can be removed and added as required if you want to use as a single trailer alone

both trailers have matching wheels now and are registered individually and l have electric brakes on one axle as is required.

Both trailers have been made by myself , front trailer has a canvas top that goes on it so as to camp in it

Some interesting ideas there. Have you got a B double licence for that rig Grizzly ? Evil or Very Mad
Any of you guys with side load trailers have problems with the wind getting under the rear fenders? I swear the honda nearly tore off it's rear guards this weekend, not to mention the drag. 220litres of fuel to travel 800km!. I'm designing some sort of cowling for future trips I think. Is there a drawbar to trailer size ratio ? as mine is very short - 1m for 8X6 trailer, might have to lengthen for a decent windbreak.
Any input greatly appreciated.

Your trailer shouldnt be getting under drag Hrm Mine doesnt have that problem ? My draw bar is 1200 long, but i prefer a shorter draw bar, I dont have a problem backing mine. I feel a longer draw bar means more air drag between the car and the trailer if that makes sense. I'm expecting a lot more drag when I finish my camper trailer. But i'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Hrm

Don't forget though Yogie I'm towin behind the ute, not a big fat 4by4 and the Honda's rear fender is like a big air bucket.

I HAVE HAD ALOT OF WAYS TO TRANSPORT QUADS STARTED WITH CAR AND TRAILER THEN A VAN WITH MY FIRST QUAD , THEN HAD A SMALL TRUCK FOR A FEW YEARS WHICH COULD CARRY A BANSHEE AND 2 BLASTERS, AND STILL TOW A CAMPER TRAILER WHICH HAD FRIDGE SINK AND COOKER ETC THIS WAS AWESOME, IT EVEN TOOK ME AND MAGOTT TO THE FINKE 02, THEN WHEN YOU HAVE A FAMILY IT ALL CHANGES AGAIN IN THE TRUCK WE COULDNT FIT A CHILD SAFTEY SEAT WHAT COULD WE DO, LOOKED AT BUILDING A BIG TRAILER BUT MY WIFE & ME (STILL USED TO THE CAMPER TRAILER) WANTED ALL COMFORTS OF HOME. THE COST OF THE TRAILER AND THEN YOU NEED A 4WD TO TOW IT YOUR LOOKING AT $30G + DIDNT HAVE THE CASH . THEN SOMEONE IN THE CLUB TOLD US ABOUT SOME OLD BEDFORD BUSES THAT WERE FOR SALE BINGO THATS FOR ME COST $3750 FOR THE BUS THATS WHAT WE GOT FOR THE TRUCK , THEN IT TOOK ABOUT 2 YEARS TO DO THE CONVERSION COST DONT KNOW EXACTLY BUT NOT $30G , IT HAS A KITCHEN ,SHOWER TOILET QUEEN SIZE BED AND TWO SINGLE BUNKS AIR CON AND A LARGE SHADE CAN FIT ALL THE QUADS WE NEED IN THE BUS WITH NO TRAILER. TOOK 4 QUADS IN THE BUS AND 3 IN A TRAILER TO THE PERTH NATS IT DIDNT MISS A BEAT IT HAS A 330 DIESEL AND 5 SPEED GEAR BOX AND NOT BAD ON FUEL. IT ALSO SITS ON 80 TO 90 KM NOT THE FASTEST BUT IT STILL GETS YOU THERE. ITS FUN TO TRAVEL IN.

i got the bus for $3750 thats was for road running empty shell. 1976 bedford it was a good deal , it was near pt lincoln and he couldnt sell them. he had a 78 model and he wanted $6000 , but this one was better.

me and a mate flew over there and,i drove it back with a trade plate we got back with only one head light working. i had to do alot of work to it and i dont think i would do that again, but it was all worth it.

How much liquid gold does she drink? Was thinking of doing a bus but have been concerned about the extra time on the road and fuel economy (we do 130kms an hour with a trailer in the northern territory)

yeah it will take a bit longer , we all left here on a qrsa ride to the flinders and left a fuel station at the same time everyone flew by me on the way there we didnt need to stop for fuel and got there about 20 to 30 mins behind them. not bad , cant remember what size the fuel tank is havent used it for a while. don't know fuel economy but its not bad.

Gee that sounds good

We did a far bit of travel last year and will be doing heaps more this year and fuel is a major consideration - on our 2 longer trips we took different shaped trailers with different loads. On the same car there was about $1000 fuel difference over the 7500km round trip. (it's basically 7500km roughly from Darwin to anywhere and back) food for thought

thats a lot of ks , my bus has an old style diesel engine and just chugs along. On the way to perth was the first time traveling with a trailer and with so much gear and the fuel range was the same; didnt even know the trailer was there but what kills the trip is hills, it will slow down to 40ks (that sucks). Thats were i loose time ,i do plan on a 2 speed diff which could fix that(not sure where to even get one) if i could get 80 to 90 ks everywhere then it wouldnt be so bad, you might be better with a modern turbo diesel engine because of the ks that you do.

turbo sounds great however the price tag is not so great. when it comes down to it we have only so much we can scratch together and if the choice is between comfort on the get there or comfort on the bike it gets hard to justify. As it is we choose not to drink/smoke/drugs so we can get the bikes and him and the kids just refuse to give up food Rolls eyes
