not too many "legal" places in NSW Stockton and Binnacrombie are about it although there are heaps of spots around where it is not legal but is kinda ok if you know what i mean ... penrose state forest for example _________________ getting your quad around just got a whole lot easier www.ozcustomquadcarriers.com.au |

Great place to ride is "oberon" me and all my mates go up there at least 1 a month and have a ball.
we are on 2 wheelers and Quads
mates on quads said its the best time they have had.
you can even camp up there for the weekend.
Its the best place i have ever ridden because you dont get board
there is pine forest runs, hill climbs, mountan runs, jumps trail ridding what more can you ask for.

Oberon is a great place to go riding. It takes me 1 1/2 hours from Penrith. The riding area is a just before you wind down the mountain to Jenolan Caves. Go up the great western Hwy towards Blue Mountains and keep on going down MT Vic then there will be a turn off which has a sign to Jenolan Caves and its 30-35 klm on that road. There willl be a sign called BLACK SPRINGS on the left, opposite side of road are toilets and camping area. |

No i have never seen any rangers or cops up there even when we camp .
There is one guy that drives around in a white ute but he goes around to the sites were people camp and clean some of the rubbish up and make sure no one is doing things they should not be. _________________ "IN DIRT WE TRUST"

| Yep, thats the one. regarding rangers, ive seen a few but have never bothered us, i guess if you doing the right thing they leave you alone. Sometimes u can get heaps of walkers on the firetrail, we just turn around a go to a different area or we always slow down give them a wave and a hello and give it a 100 metres before we throw some roost up !! |

Good advice if every one excepted these basic curtious rules for other people using these tracks we would quikly build a better name for our selfs..
Were we ride there is alot of horses and mountain bike uses on the same trails so we have one simple rule pull over turn the bike of and chill out for while til there long gone...and we have never had a problem and often get a thanks as they go past....good relationship on trails is good for every one...
It only takes one to say that they saw Quads ripping past and tearing up the trails and they will come down on you like a ton of bricks. _________________ 04 Polaris Predator 500 with mods

Good old rivo
I have been ridding a couple of times on my 2 wheels to run it in.
Its nothing great but its good to go out there and have a blat close to home.
The area is not all that big just have to watch the idiots that ride around there with no ridding gear with no helmets. _________________ "IN DIRT WE TRUST"

i live in bluehaven. there are many trails and 4wd tracks that you can follow all day all the way up to morrissett. theres mud, water, dust, grass, rocks. apart from that i try to find places when i drive around if not i go to binacrombie down out of goulban, i just recently got back from bina very sore from a weeks riding, youll never get board there. _________________ i am the rebel, thats why i gate people |

Another place to ride is a new place with the lot, It is a fair haul but if you want to look into it there is a website www.biketerritory.com.au
If you are looking for a couple of days type of trip it is well worth it! _________________ ...and on the seventh day the lord said to the shephard....piss off this is bike territory!! |

ok i dont mind the drive but its $240 just for my missus and i for 2 days riding and 2 nites stay, itll take 6hrs to get there. arrive late morning. get bikes off trailer, have lunch, ride for 6-7hrs, setup camp then up at 6am, have breaky, ride for a few hrs, pack up the gear and come home, that seems alot for a weekend. ok its seems alot but binacrombi is way cheaper, and they let coun tless ppl on any track at any one time, as for bike territory, they only allow one group at any one time on one track, i find that hard to follow. 7500 acres, thats alot of area to cover in a days riding.
but i intend to check it out in the new year in a few months just to see how it is. _________________ i am the rebel, thats why i gate people |

Perhaps a definative list of legal ride spots both government and private is called for.?
one for each state perhaps
after looking at Biketerritory, I notice that they have no insurance. Whilst this would not worry me, if I stack it , thats my problem. there are certainly some litigious jerks out there who would sue any one they could, even after signing an indemnity.
and of course there is the problem of hitting someone else with your quad and being responsible for all medical costs.
Does anybody know if Recreational Rego (third party personal insurance) covers you in priveate riding parks like those mentioned in this thread? |
