yep go to Lavis lane at Williamtown. it is the road that comes off the big roundabout off Nelson Bay Road There is a Service station located on the Round about. (on beach side of road) a "twin " servo is located around 200 metres north near the turn off to the airport.
at the end of lavis lane (it enters a private road to a sand pit) turn right up the hill and right again and you will see the car park. keep your speed down until you hit the sand,
You can get your beach permit from the service station (around 25 dollars) and your vehicle should be registered or have Recreational rego (around 150 for three months).
Cops, rangers and NPWS have been giving the area a hiding lately so ride unregistered at your own risk.
The service station is the last place that has any public facilities, water phone toilet etc. so stock up if you need anything.
If you havent ridden on the sand before , be very careful as it is easy to miss a drop off and go sailing out into nothing. same thing at the top of dunes.... they can drop away very quickly on the "other side" of a rise. scary if its a 5 foot drop you didnt see, disasterous if its a fifty foot drop. I find this to be more of a problem in the middle of the day, but you can be caught out anytime. have fun. |
