For my next bike (could still be a while) I am thinking of getting a TRX 250 but my parents think that it will be too fast for me and that I will end up hurting myself bad. So is there anyway of limiting the speed that they can do (I don't want it done but if it is wat it takes to get a new bike) We have a friend that is a mechanic and mum said he might be able to do something to slow it down. Has anyone ever done anything before?? AND would it really be too fast for a 13 year old???

Gear it so it only does 60kph....  
Screw the throttle block in so it won't rev...
also, buy a kawasaki and you won't have to limit it at all,,,, jus jokin..

What is a throttle block anyway. Is that the govenor on the handlebars.???

It is my understanding that all thumb throttles have them(original equipment ones), if not it would not be that hard to tap one into the throttle anyway..

If you are talking a TRX250EX... you are talking a good intermediate semi-auto quad for a growing learner.
If you are talking a TRX250R... you are talking a full manual race weapon 2 stroke that will keep up with most modern 400 4 strokes.
2 strokes are harder to restrict too, once they come into their power band they tend to run away.
If you restrict them enough to slow the top end, you will have big trouble finding any grunt to get you up into the power band rev range. Hills etc could be a struggle.

Im pretty sure that quad has a govener screw.
The 250's are a good fun quad to ride, most 13 year olds should be fine on it.

TRX 250EX Is what I mean. I think that I could handle it and not hurtmyself but mum and dad are scared that I will do damage. They might not worry about it if I prove to them that I could ride one. How fast would one go anyway??? (SO MANY QUESTIONS  )

TRX250EX is a good choice.
Not many around, but they are an easy rider.
Mrs Bullet had one for a couple of years before she regressed to a TRX90 Jumbo.
The newer than 06 250EX's have a semi-auto 'sport clutch'.
See if you can get that model, you'll love it.
All we did with Mrs Bullets was lower it a bit, free flow the baffle, went from 22mm carb to 24mm.
It went really well for a 250 and lots of my mates sports rode it as a spare bike when we were on the 450's.
They are by far the easiest mono pulling machine on this planet.
they are a stupidly reliable 229 cc unit and there are some 249cc 10.5:1 upgrade kits around if you get bored in a few years time.
the new black ones look way cool too.
I'll bet the first thing you go for is a set of +2 arms, the front ends are a bit skinny.

Mate I had a TRX250EX, absolutly brilliant bike, bullet
proof and easy as to ride. The power of them really isn't
what you might think, it is very smooth and useable. It has
plenty down-low and doesn't need to be revved off it's nut
to make max power. But if not it does have a restrictor screw
in the thumb throttle assembly.
The only problem I had with it was the suspension, bottomed
really easily and was harsh at high speed.
But with that said it's positives outway the negatives by far.
Hope you get as much enjoyment as I did out of one.
