Gum valley rocks , the river section is worth going back for, count 2 more Cool ! It worked well with the event earlier this year ,the last race was about 1.30 pm so we got home at a reasonable hour Cool
The response to the Quads from the club was positive and regarded as a special attraction as some members mentioned they had never seen sportsquads and were expecting us all to rock up on aggies when they heard there was quads coming Smile .

Well I spoke to Dad. There is a decent chance I will be doing this race. He will probably give it a miss because of a buggered shoulder. How many of you guys are going? Smile Cool

couple of the Moranbah regulars and from what I hear Clermont will put in a good contingent. All I need to do is put a kill switch on but I think it will be a little while before she gets into competition (her confidence is really lacking) . Needs a nudge from the other women riders to spur her on. We are going to Manar Park for new year so hopefully riding with some other newbies will get the confidence and skills growing...

[quote="Dingo555"]couple of the Moranbah regulars and from what I hear Clermont will put in a good contingent.

That's good to hear , it's a nice wide first corner so it'll fit 20 quads no worries Cool .
Manar sounds like a good chance for a bit of socialising but Jan/Feb could be pretty full on , If we go it'll be a last minute decision Hrm .
In regards to entering MX[ or any racing] for the first time , I look at it this way , sit back outta the holeshot ,let the main pack go , then just ride /race the track to suit yourself , and If you get lapped that rider would be proffesional enough to make it safe in a mixed grid [m/f]
this is not to say that you have to start at the back just a scenario
It's as safe as riding can possibly be for example ;
The traffic is heading in the same direction [or should be],
no oncoming traffic or side tracks,
riders are mostly monitored at all times , not riding around the scrub by yourself miles from home without a mobile, not like back in the day Neutral
Ambulance and pain relief onsite eek , makes the trip to hospital more comfortable, if it is needed [ fact is most accidents happen at home].
Hope this helps someone , otherwise bloody big yarn for nothing Razz

If you plan to do a bit get a "Senior club", liscence that will cover zone competition/ club days and interclub $220 bucks which equates to about 3 or 4 one day liscences [ From memory this is a zone comp] .
For the Qld Championships and interstate meetings you require a "Senior national" they cost $255 .
http://www.mqld.org.au/lic_typesoflicences.htm#snrclub

Do you have a club to do you your riding test ?

http://www.mqld.org.au/docs2/Rider%20Competence%20Assessment%20form.PDF

check that out ,
It's all good to know stuff , phone your local club, contact numbers will be on the mqld site there somewhere or their might be a club member watching from up your way that can help you out here ? anyone Confused
If that's you in your avater you look competent to ride , the rest you learn on the track & in the pits Wink

the cairns mx stewart hates quads, tryed a few times to get racing underway here but always get told no quads, then i ask why and they say its cause quads rip up all the ruts that the motobikes make

do i have to race for them to deem me competent, or can i just go to a practice day and have them assess me?

anyone one else got any input?
