| I know we have just gotten over the 2007 - but it appears that on the MA Calendar it has been allocated the weekend of the 25th & 26th of October 2008 at Smithton. |

That's what I was told last month, I think they pretty much finalised it as Tassie when they had a meeting during the nationals weekend at Maffra. Getting ATVs across the country is hard work but getting them across the Tasman will be harder. One tip I have learnt from my involvement with the road race boys is that if your transporter has a dunny it can be classified differently on the ferry, as in you can say it is also a recreational touring vehicle or something, apparently the different in the costs of getting big vehicles across the Tasman amounts to many hundreds of dollars. For those flying down as Tassie is quite small I generally don't really care too much if I fly in to Hobart, Launceston or Devonport no matter where in Tassie my destination as the drives aren't too far either way so I just take whichever flights is cheapest. For those in NT, WA and probably also Qld though the availability of direct flights to Tassie can be troublesome and for WA and NT non existent so it always means an extra flight and plane swap in Melbourne or Sydney. My advice would be to plan a holiday at the same time so you can kill two birds with one stone. Tassie is a lovely place and the economy generally seems to be quite bad but the upside of that is that most things remain quite reasonably priced. _________________ Trev

You will enjoy, and it is definately worth coming down.
A few of us would be keen to take time off work around that time too to be hospitible to fellow quad riders.. _________________ Andrew |

Ms 450 and I are going for sure and we thought a 2 week holiday would be ideal and hopefully get in some cool trail rides while we are over there. any info on riding spots and what you have to do to do it legally would be much appreciated.

not sure at this stage whether we'll be making the trip but if we do i'll be bolting on my second head so i can blend in with the locals and i'll bring my cousin and tell everyone she's my wife lol
but seriously i've never been to tassie but i've visited almost every remaining spot in oz so i reckon i'll be making a fair effort to get the young fella to the 08 nats. even if it's just so i can say i've been there b4 i'm worm food
anyone from South OZ interested in freight pooling our gear and flying over? |

There are a few good riding spots close and there could even be an enduro being held a week before or a week after, about being legal.... do the right thing in most forrestry areas and the local rangers etc leave you alone, I have been riding for 15 years and not once had rv rego or a problem with the law... _________________ Andrew |

maybe time to put a dunny in the trailer Smitty if its gonna be cheaper on the boat, it's already got a kitchen so you could get it classified as a caravan, then we could take more than a couple and charge freight like we did for the WA Nats...... I cant wait either, maybe stay a week after and do some trail riding.
Whats this should we attend stuff Leanne, of course you'd be going right! _________________

That's the go, if you can get it classed as an RV style camper the rates for getting it across the Tasman are I believe shitloads less than if it is classed as a transporter/truck. _________________ Trev

Kev if Froggy is in then that's another one that helps scrape up a Jumbo's class.
Make room in the box for Team Bullet.
(A spare 1 cubic metre should do me Lisa and two TRX90's). _________________ Can-Am X Team

Don't think you need a dunny just a kitchen and a bed plus maybe some windows. _________________ Smitty |

If you can reverse the thing you are welcome to leave it locked up in the backyard, people have to get past our 3 dogs to get a peek in there so i consider it quite safe.. _________________ Andrew |

No problem, there is always room at my uncles 5 minutes away as well, we can fit 4 other trailers there as well,
Just hope the weather when the time comes is kind.
I have offered all free signage to get maximum advertising for this event also, pitty I won't be riding though, bit out of my league... _________________ Andrew |

If all goes well the boys are off to the US beginning of 2009 to do all the racing they can, so dollars and cents now plays a big part for us, and if Chris still has bikes left to ride on as he needs to sell them before he goes.
It will all come down to the "last minute". |
