Contact one of the private car shippers. There are plenty of guys that do private shipping of cars purchased out of California and they will just chuck it in one of their containers.......back of Auto Trader mag.

Look under "FORWARDING AGENTS" in the yellow pages.

Good luck with it.
Would be interesting to know how free trade agreements would work with little fellas like us.

Ive imported bikes here beofre form the USa and NZ ..im also looking to import one of the new 210 HP Yamaha SHO PWC's as well , as the local prices here are not in line with what they should be ( nice way of saying someone on this side is real greedy) they retail in US for $11999 and yet here they are $23999....... somthing not right here .

Go to the govt site DOTARS. ( im not sure what its actually called but do google search on "vehicle import aust") , you need to get prior approval before the item lands on aust shores otherwise they send it back.

It costs $50 for the approval , and you will usually get stung some gst and duty.
Even with all that you will still find a pwc or quad 000's cheaper than buying locally.

Let me know if u r bringing in a PWC !! - im keen also.

exactly what i want to do!

spoken to a few shipping company's in aus. and found one that will ship the PWC for $2700. they deliver it to your door, organise all the customs stuff, approvals etc, and invoice you for the gst and duty afterwards.

i figure it will cost this much:

FX-SHO - $13790au
Shipping - $2700au
GST - $1379au
Import Duty - $689.50

grand total of $18558.50

so yeah in theory it looks like you can save $5500! am i missing anything?

Someone is making a killing over here.

For example:
The SS Commodore will retail for $30k in the States.
Over here you wont get any change for $45k.
How can you export a car and sell it for less than what it cost in the country of origin. You would understand if they were exporting hundreds of thousands, but there only sending about 30k. We get screwed royally here sometimes. Truth is, were so use to inflated prices we don't think any different.

Back to the topic.
Let us know how it turns out.
